    Got my hard drive fixed

And all my data's been restored. It even costed less than I was originally quoted. Still pricey but I got my data back, and backed up on 3 different USB drives.

    Proof I'm not dead

So I'm aware I've been dead quiet lately, and I felt the need to touch base. So here's a peek at the next song in the upcoming chapter without any context. My way of giving you something. Its no where near finished, but progress is being made.

    Harddive died

Last year when I had my little vacation I noticed my laptop having signs of its approaching death, so I ordered a cheap external hard drive. It was a panic purchase, I am very uneducated on computers aside from their general use, and copied all my data. I since used it as the main storage space to keep microsoft's prying eyes out of my affairs (its the spirit of the thing rather than having

    Yup Shingles

noticed it yesterday night. My eyeliid aching and red, and I got the start of a rash around my left down to my checkbone. I ran out today for a refill on my huge-ass anti viral pills.

I mean, I got these before I started having any holes in my vision, but I hate that I'm back to stinging, burning eye pain.

I'll be blunt. No flowery language or anything. I feel like my attention span is completely shot. I think I've been spending too much time on garbage sites like twitter and the like. I can barely focus long enough to read a book or a fic here much less write. I feel like I got the attention span of a 6 year old. I start to read a paragraph then go blarrrrrg and skip ahead to a different part of it like some impatient idiot going 'get to the good part already.'

Upside: my shoulders aren't hurting much now that I've switched to doing my stretches every other day. Mark that as another doctor who didn't explain things to me correctly, had to hear that I shouldn't do them every day from people who actually go to the gym.

To remedy this, I'm going to stop using YT as much, twitter's gone, and need to spend less time plugged in. maybe read again every night. what should have been a micro chapter has ballooned out of control and is a total thematic mess. I can use parts of it, but not all of it.

I hope you don't worry about the story or anything else other than yourself, and any close family members.

But remember to take care of yourself, and the rest will follow.

There is some concern. I feel like I'm letting my readers down with such long periods between chapters.

Take as much time as you need, we can wait.

Best of luck

Hope you feel better soon

Ugh, I know that feeling. Best of luck to you friend.

I mean, I'd suggest getting away from Twitter on principle, but I'm a dinosaur. You shouldn't have to hear too much from people you can't, conceivably, get away with slapping.

Glad to hear your shoulder's doing better. I hope you've learned a valuable lesson about healthy living, too: it's an oxymoron.

You have a great story, and you write when you feel up to it.

And I can’t wait till Celestia and Lune finally meet with the King of Autumn, I’m sure their going to play along with all the good that can be gained from his efforts. And in fact another one, or the other ones could be brought in and given parts to play as well.

Honestly, its hard for me to believe that my stories touch anyone. Poor self esteem and all that. It always amazes me whenever anyone comments on my stories praising me. I don't receive a lot of encouragement outside of this website. But I have returned to the chapter, rewriting it with a tweak to the conversation between Jack and Cherry Nova. Since I have free time out the yin-yang atm I got a chance to watch some things looking for inspiration. I found it in Terry Pratchett's Hogfather movie, namely a conversation between Death and his granddaughter near the end. it gave me a new tone to set for the conversation between Jack and Cherry that's shaping up quite nicely.

Ah, Terry Pratchett. A veritable font of inspiration, that man.

Going Postal might also be a good series to watch/read.

I've never known the man or his work before last week. I did see the Going Postal trailer. It did look good.

He was a really fun writer. The Discworld series is one of the best out there, as you can pick up just about any of them and enjoy it perfectly well if you can tolerate silliness.

I suggested Going Postal because it's got some really interesting exchanges on the nature of truth, lies, responsibility and reality tucked in with a fun story. A bit relevant to Barleycorn, I figured.
