    Audiobook Announcement

I'm excited to announce that I'm working on an audiobook for Hooves of Fate. I started with Chapter 63: Rivers. This way, long-time readers of HoF can reorient themselves to the momentum of the story before the upcoming release of Chapter 64 (text) this Saturday.

    The Voice of the People

They can cancel Friendship is Magic. They can cancel Make Your Mark. But they can never silence the voice of the people.

    Flurry Heart's Reign of Terror

I stayed up till 2am last night talking with a friend - orchestrating a plot - theorizing what precisely it would take for (young adult) Flurry Heart to successfully depose both of her parents, and Twilight Sparkle.

Hooves of Fate - Reflections on the Upcoming Chapter · 2:01am Jan 19th, 2020

I think perhaps my favorite thing about writing is when the characters (or story in general) take me by surprise. I know it's hardly the meat of the story, but discovering "The Pinkbeard Chronicles," Rose's favorite book series, has been an absolute delight for this very reason. It tickles me every time.

It doesn't happen all the time in regular chapters - at least not in major ways - but recently, while polishing off the latest chapter of Hooves of Fate, the story really took on a life of its own, and moved in directions that I didn't expect it to. I'm so excited to share this with you. It's been less than two months since my last release, (which is fast for me), but this chapter is actually turning out to be the story's longest, and since a great deal of it was rather unplanned, I feel hyped not just as a creator, but as a reader.

Book FIve is getting off to a very promising start.

Yeah, that really is the best

Looking forward to seeing it!

Though it is sometimes troublesome when you've got an ending in mind for your story and the characters go "nooooo, I think I'm going to go over there instead." :)

Hello there! I do not want to interfere because I am only at chapter 5, although, I mark my presence by writing this comment anyway.

Looking forward to the content, even if I'm a bit nervous about by how much the chapter might be the longest. :D
(It's that old mix of "Yay, so many words of a story I like! If only there were more!" and "Oh no, I have other things to do, and now look at all these words I need to read too!", but, you know, not really a way out of that other than something like not reading, and I'm not going to do a crazy thing like that. :D)

And yes, I've not done enough writing to have that happen with characters I'm writing myself, but I've seen it happen secondhand in editing and had it happen firsthand with RPG characters. It's nice, if indeed sometimes inconvenient. Glad you enjoyed it here! :D

Hah! Very true. Darn fictional characters not doing following my instructions! :rainbowlaugh:

D&D taught me about character development. RPG's count as writing. :twilightsheepish:

Glad to hear from you. I look forward to your reactions as you catch up! :pinkiehappy:

I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't caught up to the current state of the story, but Rose completely took me by surprise when she got back from her first adventure, and it derailed all of my plans for about twenty chapters. :raritycry:

Thanks. :)
(I'm actually GMing our current main campaign, too (so even more writing-like than my usual state of just being a player), and people seem to be liking it so far. :))
