Well, we're about to enter a new decade. Doesn't happen every year, does it? Anyways, I thought I would comment on some things before we enter the New Roaring Twenties.
For starters, I've got a new story up called Tender Loving. Before you check it out, just know that it's a clopfic, and no, I didn't write it for my own perverse enjoyment (well, mostly). It was a little experiment I did for JingleClop, examining how important it is for relationships to be cultivated between two fornicating adults. Perhaps a bit obvious to anyone actually having sex, but an important lesson nevertheless. I probably won't do many clopfics from here on out, partly for the difficulty in writing them from an artistic viewpoint and partly from my on-again-off-again Methodism starting to reemerge. So don't expect this to be a microcosm of my future work. Unless you're all willing to start paying me a lot of money for horse fornication. I also did a JingleMas story called My Heart Won't Buy It, so feel free to look at that too.
Secondly, this was an important year for me as a writer. Not only did I manage to sell a story collection at BronyCon, I also started working on my graduate thesis to product publishable stories. I similarly figured out what I want to do with my life in terms of writing, and I'm hoping to get a job in the field, either through a paying job or a fellowship at an educational institution. It'll be a long road upward, but I hope I'll be able to make such strides within the next year.
Finally, I want to thank everybody who had enough faith in my writing to follow me. In the five years I've been on this site, I never dreamed I would have legends like Miller Minus and Flutterpriest sneaking a peek at my works in their already flooded feeds. Special shout-out to Nyronus, who started the year as 'the guy unfortunate enough to be my Jinglemas story recipient' and became 'the guy who wanted me to autograph Endings and invited me to a post-BronyCon meetup after a con filled with too much personal drama on my end'. Seriously, he made that whole trip worth it, just to know somebody cared about the work I put into creating something (however imperfect said work ended up being).
Most of all, thank you everybody who has participated in this fandom. I didn't think I would be here back in 2010, writing stories about My Little Pony and trying to become a writer. I thought I would become a lawyer and be stuck doing dull paperwork for the rest of my life. This new world you all introduced me to is quite fun, and I hope we can keep it going into the next decade.
