    River City Equestria Girls?

Seriously, that's Pinkie Pie on the left, and Rainbow Dash on the right. Tell me I'm wrong.

I will not write a fanfic about the two of them getting into all the fights.

    Probably.

An "I don't have livejournal anymore" sort of update.

    It snowed yesterday.

Which just reminded me how much I don't like winter. It wasn't even a bad snow, just enough of a dusting to linger for a little bit. First one of the season. And I even had the day off from work, due to my schedule, so it's not like I had to do anything ...

    So I didn't.

    Happy Halloween!

So yeah. Despite various distractions (Steam had Darkest Dungeon for UNDER FOUR BUCKS), I've managed to hammer out a ridiculously shippy conclusion to the self indulgent Rarijack story I started.

So that's fun? I gave myself a deadline to finish things on Oct 31, so that's what I did, dangit. Hopefully you guys will enjoy.

2019 in TumblePony. · 3:26am Dec 31st, 2019

Because hey, why not take a step back and look at what I've done this past year? As otherwise I would wind up doing this tomorrow instead of going out, and I'm not quite THAT boring. Or, well, I probably am, but at least I try to pretend otherwise.

So, at a quick tally, it looks like I wrote 19,310 of horsewords this year. Which ... is notably less than prior years. On top of that, just about everything I wrote was definitely in the "silly one shot" category a-la Brain Problem Situation and Inevitability and The Princess' Speech. I dare say the most thoughtful thing I wrote in 2019 was the ending to GARGANTULON VS. THE SPACE DRACULAS, so ... that's a thing.

What really got me was the fact that I didn't write a new entry of The Flash Sentry Papers for the whole damn year. Which ... well, not like anybody reads those (at least compared to the "silly one shot" stuff, if site statistics are to be believed). Of course, part of that was the fact that I kind of didn't want to write any Sentry stuff while the final season of the cartoon was going-- mostly so I could figure out the best way to integrate Flash's misadventures with the canonical events of the show. And I even have a vague plan for such stuff! At least one that covers S9's opening-- the series finale is a little trickier, as I have to figure out what Flash's excuse for sitting out The Battle of Canterlot Fields is. Apart from, y'know, cowardly hiding behind a rock while every other creature you can think of started flinging themselves at a couple of magic-drunk demigods. As you do.

Then again, on the flipside of all that, I did make it a point to put together an actual hardcopy collection of the first four Sentry stories for BronyCon. A hardcopy collection that immediately sold out (along with literally everything else that was in the BronyCon Bookstore). Of the ten extant copies, I ... think I know where over half of them wound up? Though I'm kind of curious if there was anyone who just picked up a copy without following me here on FiMfiction, first. Still, the editing/compiling process was good practice for further projects, if nothing else.

Oh, and I went to BronyCon for the first (and last) time. It was ... something, alright. Glad I went, even though it was kind of a fiasco. Might make it to EFNW this year, however! Just, uh, gotta figure some other stuff out first.

As for 2020, I'm not quite sure what it'll bring, writing-wise. I mean, I should probably/eventually buckle down and hammer out "Sentry's Last Stand," just for the inevitable joke that it's not his last stand. Though if anything I need to finish We Deserve a Happy Ending, especially now that I've seen the EQG ending and it was a bit shit except for the vaguest hints of Rarijack.

'course, I've also been trying to write this thing called "original" fiction as of late ... right now I'm looking at around 35k words and counting of a poorly organized and plotted mess of a short novel that features copious amounts of robot-punching. Still, I'm making it a priority to work on this-- been making it a point to get around 500 words written each day, so ... progress, maybe? My eventual goal is to have something fun and readable put together by June-- at which point I might even try self publishing on Kindle Unlimited. I mean, it worked for Chuck Tingle!

Even if I am no Chuck Tingle.

So yeah. 2019 gone, and here's to hoping 2020 is even better! Yay optimism.

Well, you know that I love your Flash Sentry stories, so I'm all for more of that, but your a good writer in general, so original fic? Yeah some of that too, please!

Just going to point out that the script from the BronyCon reading—you know, the one that actually gives Equestria Girls an ending of some kind—is available for download. Also, I purchased one of the Flash Sentry Papers print copies, and it is awesome. Came in handy when I needed to double-check Over the Top's profession for a recent blog. (And it's nice to have some of my favorite stories in dead tree form.)

In any case, here's to more Tumblewords, pony-related or otherwise!
