The Voice in the Water

Listen to the crashing of the waves, the flow of a stream, the roar of a waterfall, or the patter of the rain.

    I should have known better

New indie animated series by GLITCH. Trailer here:

Considering that it's GLITCH, I'm surprised that I'm surprised by what was in that, but here we are. Hopefully its as good as Muder Drones and Digital Circus (which, while not the greatest things ever, are still solid compared to the stuff coming out of Hollywierd).

First Natuili spotted by EV Nautilus

Watch as deep sea researchers nerd out over externally shelled cephalopods! (I get that excited when I run into rare or cool plants, so I can pretty reasonably say that kind of reaction isn't scripted).

    Just some random gamer ramblings

So, I was beating my head against a wall in Lies of P, and got to thinking: what would I want if I made Splintered Sky into a game. Obviously, there's a lot of different routes it could go, but something that really stuck with me was "wouldn't it be interesting to try to make an EVE style game out of the setting." So, I got to thinking "how could I make something like that and make it

    Monster Hunter Wilds

Sooooo, the MH Wilds beta is going on. And I've been playing it. And I'm afraid that if I buy the game, its going to be the only thing I play for a long time. Just like what happened when I picked up MH World. Yes, it's that good.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to make myself do something else besides pummel balahara.

    Versus (by One)

So, something that I have generally come to loath in contemporary storytelling is the very obnoxious trope of "sUbvOOrtinG tHi Aubiense exPertaCHuns dur hur hur I aRe seww cLEBbER" ["clever author" takes another drink of lead paint]. There's a single author that I've read that actually makes it work, and that's One, the creator of One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100.

I am… floored · 1:55am Oct 14th, 2019

Good evening everyone.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who's favorited, commented and/or just given me a thumbs up on my latest story. I am… honestly floored by the response to Phoenix-born rising. I had hoped that it would be well received, but I never expected this level of response. I'm honestly… really moved.

I hope that whatever comes next for this world lives up to this first chapter. Fair warning, Phoenix-born rising is only going to be 2 chapters long to stay within the contest rules for Imposing Sovereigns II. But, with how much love this has gotten, I'll be coming back to Sunset and Philomena's story. And the rest of their world. I just need to figure out where I want to take it.

Also, there is another side to this world: that of Selenia and Luna's people. That's where Twilight lives, and there are stories to tell there too. Maybe next I'll do something for the Selenian side of things.

So, thank you to everyone who gave Phoenix-born rising a chance. I will try to make what comes next as good or better.

Well it is a very well written story that made the front page in the featured box that got a normally sci-fi centered junkie like me invested in to its fantasy setting.

so I just read the whole contest page, and I have to honestly say I don't get it at all. I do have a question though. Can you add more to this story AFTER the contest is done?

Well, Phoenix-born rising is my entry to the contest, and deals with Sunset's ascension and the political ramifications of it. But, nothing says that I can't write sequels. I've had the idea for this world rattling around in my head for a little while, and when FoME's contest came up, it was a good excuse to take a shot at putting it on paper.

Without spoiling too much, I'm thinking of doing a companion piece to Phoenix-born rising that examines Luna's night-weavers, with a focus on Twilight.

I see! Well I look forward to seeing what you do with this world! I esp look forward to seeing what adventures and such Sunset gets up to! I also suspect the woman who invited Sunset to sit was Celestia, I further suspect she KNEW Sunset would be chosen LOL
