Winter Update for Sunset of Battle

Going to be a short update.

Chapters 15 and 16 are in the final editing phases now. I'm waiting to publish anything however until after chapters 17 and 18 are done so I have the latitude to tweak 15 and 16 as needed. Once the current story arc is finished I'll start posting the chapters on a weekly basis.

    That is all...

    Like I said; short update.

    A minor alteration...

I made a minor edit to the most recent chapter. There were two little words that had become a massive pain in my arse working on the next chapter. They were, 'to her'. :twilightangry2: It was leading to rabbit holes of character arguments that spiraled into hellish domains where finding a feasible 'out' for Sunset grew dire indeed. After several attempts I've decided to just rip out the root

Nearing the end of Schola Arc, and future planning.

So, as I begin to near the final rise in action for the schola arc of Sunset of Battle I'm looking more and more ahead to what I want to do with the story and where to go next. My general plan is to do a time-skip to when they are novitiates and start the next arc in-media res. But what to do and who to have as the antagonists?

I'm sorry... · 4:44pm Nov 10th, 2012

I'm sorry everyone, but it's looking more and more like I am going to miss this Monday's story update as well. Chapter 20 of SotA is just under 4k words in length and a broken disjointed mess of scenes.

To my pre-readers/editors/Knights of the Red Pen; chapter 2 of UAS isn't in much better condition. But, hay, you made Chapter 1 into something great. Now to hopefully come up with a name and synopsis for the story some day.

The trouble is I'm all turned around in my own head. Anxiety is in a constant throbbing ache that's making it hard to sit and just write. I want to be out doing something, like jogging, building a Tree Mansion, or punching bears in the face. ((That's a real thing real manly Canadians do for real. I am not making it up in a lame attempt at humour made worse by pointing out its a bad joke -Tundy's Brain)) I'm getting myself so worked up about ending SotA and not meeting expectations for UAS that I can feel the wall in my head rebuilding itself. I couldn't write almost anything for five years because of it, and now I'm becoming afraid it'll happen all over again.

Damn you, Vicious Cycle!

This blog brought to you in an attempt to calm my nerves. I really need to get more ativan...

Hmmm... useful... I used to watch/listen to Smile, Smile, Smile on an endless loop. I seem to have grown numb to its awesome smiling effects though. :pinkiesad2:

Well, I have faith in you.
If there's anything I can do to help just let me know.

This is the kind of thing only I can really overcome only on my own. It is very literally all in my head. This problem is one of the many reasons why I enjoy your story 'Chronicle' so much. You got the anxiety issues down rather accurately. I think only a few people read this blog, maybe. I was hoping that explaining why I'm going to miss my self-imposed deadline again I'd feel a little better. I'm not sure if it is working or not... :facehoof:

"I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by."
Douglas Adams

You know what? Go for a jog, build a tree mansion, or... punch a bear in the face. Actually, no. Don't punch a bear in the face. What would Fluttershy say if it was for anything besides getting that knot out of poor Mr. Grizzly's back? Yeah, don't go punch a bear in the face.

Seriously, though, it sounds like you may just need to disregard the deadline, particularly if it's self-imposed, and go take a break and do something. Take a breather, and by the time you come back, maybe something particularly glorious and helpful will have hit your brain.

It's OK, really!

Chin up and charge the moutain of fate!!

Last time I 'took a break', it lasted 5 bucking years. :twilightangry2: I have a manuscript still between draft 3 and 4 sitting just a foot to my right asking when I am going to finish putting the changes onto my PC. Of course, I'll then have to start draft 5 right away as SotA has given me a far superior magic system to use (Yay! Mission Accomplished?). Funny enough, that was the whole purpose behind SotA when I started to write it. Having Twilight stuck alone on a post-apocalyptic High Fantasy earth was merely an excuse to post the story here on fimfiction. Having readers I hoped would give me more motivation (it usually did) to write.

Ah. I meant along the lines of 15-30 minutes, but I can see why you wouldn't want that to happen again. In that case, best of luck to you and we'll all keep routing you on.

In the meantime, perhaps these will help:

D'awwwww! Those Derpy gifs are so cute! :derpyderp2: :derpyderp1: :pinkiehappy:

Tundara this is something you should take to heart as it is something that im sure you can understand. nopony expects you to keep up regular updates, don't set a to high perfect attendance record for yourself it makes it harder to keep up with it. there is absolutely nothing wrong with giving yourself some relax time, maybe find something to inspire a great work of art. don't be to hard on yourself just because you missed a deadline just think of the anticipation for when you finally get that next chapter posted and think of how excited your fans will be to read another amazing chapter in the story. in the end all you can do is make sure to work out the details and make sure you got an excellent new chapter to add to a great story.

just take your time and walk around outside, look at the beautiful scenery, watch the creatures scurry about their day minding there own business, sit down somewhere and just take in to account every living thing that is moving around you, let yourself feel time slow down, take in each breath slowly and just let time flow eventually something will spark an idea and when you have that idea let it flow through your entire mind thinking of every detail in it, finally let the idea work its magic. :coolphoto:

Hey, don't worry about it so much! Sometimes life just throws things at us and we can't meet every deadline even though we'd love nothing more than to do just that. Don't worry too much alright? We understand.

And be sure to take a break if you need one!

I noticed you misspelled "USA" a couple times. but that's ok since you are a bear punching Canadian. :rainbowlaugh:

Ok, jokes aside, why don't you go out and do those things? I know running myself into a coma generally gets me to do odd things (my thought process becomes highly illogical). I know some authors will have a schedule they will stick to, but this doesn't work for everyone.

Just got back from a jog... in below 0 temperature... and with no hat. Face feels all funny. Man, I LOVE WINTER! :pinkiehappy: Had some great ideas for UAS too. Now to get some hot coco, warm up, and write them down before my sieve of a brain loses them. Didn't see any bears to punch through. They must all be sleeping... :rainbowdetermined2:

491504
I hate running in winter, spring and summer for me, I like the heat. Winter is for skiing and snowboarding (I do both, I'm bi). Sometimes the bears don't find you, you have to find the bears.

You punch bears, write, love MLP and you're Canadian?
Marry me!

(edit. Coz I forgot)
Don't feel so anxious. The thing about fans is that they stick around, no matter the hardships. Take your time, don't stress, and have faith we'll love it anyway. If we don't we can always give suggestions on how to make it better.
