    Droppin' By

Hello, I was in the neighborhood and had just realized that my last blog post was a bit of a downer, given that it was around the time of my Grandma's passing and funeral. I think I oughta leave you folks with something a bit more upbeat or at least something neutral.

    And Now, A Newsletter

Huh, back in July I said I oughta talk more around here. It's now the day after Christmas and I have not, in fact, talked more around here.

So, I'll give you the rundown on what I've been up to since then. Warning, it gets a little long in talking about last summer's vacation and about a new fixation I have.

Thoughts on "The Point of No Return" · 4:26am May 3rd, 2019

If you want my story about me stressing out over a library item... well, once when I was a kid, I mangled a cassette tape when trying to figure out which side goes where in the cassette player and how to rewind it. I can't remember if Mom got it fixed or not, all I know is that I was freaking out over ruining it and how we were going to explain it to the librarian.

And thus, I cannot be called a perfect book borrower... or cassette borrower, for that matter.

Won't lie, I wasn't really expecting the lesson to be about perfection and how it isn't attainable. Now, doing the best you can is a good thing, and you should always strive to improve oneself, but expecting a perfect record of anything in your life is like asking the weather to behave the way you want it--sometimes, you end up with snow in May (it happened yesterday morning, and I was miffed).

Sometimes I have this perfectionist problem. Whenever I take a class, sometimes I feel like bowing out because I didn't get 100% on several assignments. Part of the reason why I don't like to talk much (even when I have a lot of things I want to share), is because I'm afraid of saying something stupid, and I only want to give the perfect statement that everyone understands. There are times where I hesitate writing another chapter because I'm worried it won't turn out the way I want it to or that any research I did wasn't sufficient despite my best efforts, and that my stories would be received with fifteen times more downvotes because I made a boo-boo in a chapter. I hesitate in promoting my stuff because I sure don't want to look like I have an overblown ego over an imperfect story. But, I need to remember that life by default is something you learn to live by trial and error, and I've done my share of goofing up or tarnishing a little "winning streak" of mine (such as getting sick, thus no perfect attendance).

Somewhat related is a certain running storyline weaving through my stories about a naturally eccentric stallion who's been trying to live a life of normalcy, ambition, and well, perfection, to please his overbearing mother and one-up his brother; but not only is he unhappy, things keep blowing up in his face, whether by a character flaw or just plain bad luck. He's since learned not to be as uptight as before and recognizes that the same freedom that allows mistakes to happen can also help you discover your best self. The guy still kind of beats himself up when he goofs up, though. Maybe he should read that overdue book Twilight had (for that matter, his mother should read it, too).

But, you're not here to read my ramblings on my own OC, we're talking about an episode! After last week's fun, this is a more down-to-earth episode that's pretty good. Not super amazing, but good. Made me think of just about any day in any library that I've spent time in as a kid and that nice book smell that wafts up when you crack one open.

Also, it was really good to see Moondancer! It was a short scene, but it was so nice to see her so happy and actually going out to lunch with a friend. And at the Tasty Treat of all places (I was surprised and a little saddened that we didn't see Saffron or Coriander).

And that fruit fight scene made me think of paintball. Gah, the memories of every boy I knew, including my brother, having been obsessed with that! Not to mention how for some reason, there were paintballs scattered all over the lawns at my elementary school...

But, anyway, another nice episode.

It was indeed a nice episode.

Nobody:

Me: Tomato Sandwich shares a lot of similarities with Donald Duck.

Why is Disney on the brain right now? :twilightsheepish:

I liked this episode, good moral too.
