Magisight: Thaumaturgical Ocularity Chapter 1 is Live!

Just a fair warning, this will be a very rambly post about the history of this story, a little bit about my own personal history with the show and fandom, and a rough roadmap for the future. Maybe not necessarily in that order.

Where to begin? First thing's first is I will get this out of the way right off the bat:

Magisight: Thaumaturgical Ocularity will have 1 new chapter posted every Thursday between the hours of 6 PM and midnight US Central time.

The story is about 90% written, and the draft currently clocks in at about 115,000 words, spread among a current 32 chapters. I've literally never written anything this long in my life, and I'm super excited and thrilled to be able to share it with all of you. I will do my best to respond to as many comments or questions as possible, while also maintaining the above mentioned update schedule. This gives you a rough idea on how long the story will take to fully publish (lots lots LOTS of editing to do yet, not to mention the ending!) and fully get through.

I would like to extend personal thanks to user iisaw, author of The Celestia Code. I first read The Celestia Code, around January or February of last year, as my first ever MLP fanfic, which is kind of surprising since I've been with the show since 2010-2011, basically the very beginning. I'll admit I was a tad reluctant to read it since I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into, but I instantly fell in love with it, and had a hard time putting it down. It was everything I wanted in an MLP inspired story, and it didn't stray too far from the show's setting either. It felt like something you could potentially see in one of the comics, or a super-charged season finale.

In addition, I'd like to thank user Logarithmicon from the MLP subreddit and Manechat discord server, for serving as a "lore dump" inspiration. There's a lot of topics on the show we disagree on, but I cannot deny his passion and love of detail for the show and its universe, and his frequent ramblings on the subreddit helped add fuel to this fire.

Cadenza Heartsong, my loving partner in crime and boyfriend helped me along all during the course of writing this. I would bounce ideas off of him and he would offer suggestions or even ideas of his own, some of which made it into the story proper (he is a master at naming things!). He makes music too, and we are planning to release a series of songs based off of locations featured in Magisight so please look forward to it!

My editor, Ember, was instrumental in helping to breathe additional life into my story, helping with some of my stranger sentences, and ensuring things stayed coherent. A lot of the polish is owed directly to his talents and eye for detail.

This project has consumed the last 9 months or so of my life, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. I've been a part of this series since it began (more or less), yet I've always been on the fringes of the fandom and a lot of its content. I'd only ever get stuff drip-fed to me from a few friends, so a lot of popular or wellknown music, artists, and of course, fanfics, slipped past me. I was always up to date on watching the episodes every week, but fandom content, aside from fanart and some select songs, mostly went unnoticed.

I kind of regret not having dove deeper into the fandom over the years, as we come up to season 9 and the show's grand finale (of course that doesn't mean we are done yet!), but I decided that I want to give back, in my own way, to a fandom and show that's still always been there for me.

Finally, I'd like to thank every single person who acted as pre-readers for the first few chapters, read little snippets and paragraphs, or listened to me ramble. There's far too many to name, and your support, excitement, and motivation has kept me going (along with love for a certain little purple horse).
