You know what they say about the best laid plans? I'll be real brief with this update, for reasons that will be self-evident.

State of the Scribe: February 2024

Another month, albeit the shortest of the year. I still haven't had a chance to get into the process side of my writing and write that detailed plan for the year, been too busy writing a novel. Guess that's a good problem to have.

This is exactly the 71st month I've posted a patreon calendar. Almost but not quite six years of writing fanfic, sharing all these ideas with you that would otherwise stay trapped in my head. I couldn't begin this post, and the beginning of a new year without expressing my profound thanks to everyone who keeps supporting me. Your help, big or small, is the only reason I'm still able to write

The Final Day · 9:48am Feb 28th, 2019

Hey ponies! Just providing a quick, final update to the Indiegogo campaign. Today is the final full day that the campaign will be running (although I think indiegogo itself has a weird cutoff that may cross into tomorrow in some time zones).

For those who missed my shouting to the wind over the last month, I've been running a hardcover print campaign for Message in a Bottle. You can check it out on Indiegogo here if you missed it: https://igg.me/at/starscribe/x/20354232

The campaign has blown past all of its goals, and is closing in on 100 books sold as we near the end of the campaign. (95 at the time of this writing). Production has started moving ahead already, and it's likely I'll be able to deliver some time ahead of schedule given how soon into things I knew it was going to succeed, though of course the printer has the final say.

As part of the incentive for this book, I'm in the process of writing a unique Epilogue section that will take place between Part 1 and Part 2, never to be published outside of the physical books. This section is roughly 20,000 words in length as of this stage in outlining (about 10,000 words are written so far), with about 66 pages of space for me to work with in the book.

The Epilogue will aim to tie off some of the characters left dangling in act 1 (Lightning Dust, anyone?). The story itself takes place about a month after the end of Part 1, focusing on an imminent visit by Princess Luna and the various ways our characters are recovering from their ordeal in Part 1. It may get a little longer, depending on those sections requested by individuals who ordered additional chapters (which you can do too, BTW!).

Anyway, thanks for indulging me one last time. I'll probably shut up about these books now, at least until I get the proof in my hand and have a sexy hardcover to show off. Later!

Congratulations on reaching 100 backers! I hope the logistics of shipping so many books won’t discourage you from printing part 2. :derpyderp1:

Thanks for the update! Always good to hear things are working out right.

Hahaha, I should be alright. I've got some local friends who have done projects like this before I can ask for advice.

But my hands might get sore from autographing so many book :scootangel:

Question. What kind of packaging are you shipping the books in?

5021520
I'm going to use waterproof bubble mailers with additional bubble wrap inside.

5021523
As long as its not clear that should be good! Thanks!

5021529
Yeah, not transparent. The package will not show anything to hint at what is inside.

Nooooooo, totally forgot about this due to midterms!!! Any chance you'll be doing another round of printing or would be printing a couple extra?

I haven't ordered the actual books yet. I plan on ordering a few extra and making it possible for a few more people to get involved. Just keep an eye out for a blog post.

Oh, another update! So I went through Indiegogo, and it appears I can enable something called "indemand" that allows orders to be placed after the campaign "ends" but before I actually order the products. So you can actually go there and order even now. That page will be taken down once I actually have to place the final order with the publisher (obviously), since they make all the books at once.

But if you want to get involved now, there is a tiny window still: https://igg.me/at/starscribe/x/20354232

Done and done!!! Thank you so much! I cant wait!
