"LIVE-ACTION KIM POSSIBLE! YOU THINK YOU'RE ALL THAT..." · 2:38am Feb 16th, 2019
"...AND YOU KIND OF ACTUALLY ARE!"
So the promos that have been running for Disney Channel's live-action Kim Possible movie for the last several weeks have not inspired much confidence, and I was fully prepared to go into tonight's world premiere of the movie as a full-on hatewatch, complete with snide, snarky Twitter nerd rage and a blog post ripping it to shreds.
Then the opening scene kicked in. By the time Ron showed up, I'd already scrapped the hateblog and any plans of ragetweeting.
I expected this movie to suck. I expected to hate the hell out of it.
And you know what?
It was actually pretty freaking awesome.
It wasn't perfect. There were a few weak spots (why did they turn Barken into THAT instead of just hiring Patrick Warburton to reprise the role? Did Rufus really need an origin story? Why the change from cheerleading to soccer?), but on the whole? This live-action adaptation of Kim Possible was really, really well done.
I actually want to see this cast do more Kim Possible.

I agree -- for the most part. It could have been a little better, but it could have been A LOT WORSE. Overall, a win.
KP's actress was all right, but I spotted that Athena was evil in about 5 seconds. I agree with your criticisms, Moth, and Ron didn't lose his pants enough

Shego's actress NAILED IT. Drakken -- NAILED IT. Bringing in the kid from The Goldbergs was a perfect choice for Ron. I especially loved the Easter egg of having Patton Oswald (the original VA for Dr. Dementor) reprise his role live action, and I also adored Christy Carlson Romano (KP's original VA) in her cameo. Also, there's a really deep Easter egg in having an android named Athena. See Tomorrowland, another Disney live-action adaptation of a -- ride. Hmm.
P.S.: Watch the bulletin board outside the school. You'll be tickled pink.

This is actually pretty good aside from the creepy mouth animations and the random meta jokes.
I know it had been written by original writers from the show, so the plot shouldn't be too off. For me its the artistic direction they went with. Too many things feel off for me to enjoy the story.
