Update and new story artwork · 10:40pm Feb 4th, 2019
Hi there, just a short update here while I'm working on the last two chapters of the current book. We're nearly at Chapter 100, a major milestone for an admittedly ridiculously long story that still has a good while to go. The last two chapters are probably going to be quite long, as making everything fit and covering the points I want to hit has been difficult. Hopefully it will all come together in a decent climax before reaching Book 3 at chapter 101, but just giving fair warning. I'm not great at preplanning or pacing, so making it work out right will mean some excessively long chapters here and it may take awhile.
In the meantime however, I wanted to give a little bonus and plug a good story. Newer readers or those how frequent Derpiboru may have noticed I've been going back and adding pictures to earlier chapters! I was keeping it quiet as I went back and edited until I had quite a few built up, but they've been spotted and I've made enough for now. I've been making little perk icons to go along with the chapter end perks!
These are all quick little doodles and modeled on the in game perks and faction icons, matching the style and artwork as close as I can. I've considered colorizing some, but for now I like the monochrome look as it matches the pip-boy images you'd see in the earlier games. Some look good in color though, so I'll see about putting out special ones. This does take up some time I could be writing, but I've been trying to manage my time and really been enjoying doing it, letting me get back in practice with drawing and do something just for fun, so I hope you enjoy.
As for where the inspiration to do this came from, here's the plug. I recently read Fallout Equestria: Longtalons by Telgin as part of a book club and quite enjoyed it, now eagerly waiting for new chapters. Telgin has a perk icon with each chapter, which were so cool and cute I had to shamelessly steal the idea, though I did let him know first. Thankfully he's a nice guy and an excellent writer, so I highly recommend his story if you're looking for a good read.
Now, for those who don't want to go digging through old chapters to take a peek, I figured I'd at least post a few of the pics I like best, while I work on filling in the other 98 chapters worth of perks, quest perks and faction icons. So here you go!
Stealth Filly--
--Alicorn invisibility is almost cheating! Jade is practically a Stealth-buck on demand, your relationship allows you to take advantage of her powers as well as doubling stealth-buck duration and granting sneak attack criticals +10% damage
Daddy's Little Girl--
--As bad as you are at haggling, you're lucky you have a certain little filly watching out for you. You enjoy 10% better prices from all vendors when Glitter is in your party. Additionally, her weaponized cuteness can convince vendors to sell that little bit they'd normally hold back. Increases available cap limit and stock of vendors, along with unlocking unique items at certain stores!
Swan's Song----
---Finally getting through Swan's impenetrable shield and growing closer has maximized your affinity with the big filly. With the radiation loving beauty in your party, you now gain +20% Damage when your rads are at 250 or more.
Silent Gallop--
--You have mastered silent movement, allowing you to move quickly and still remain quiet. You can Sneak at full speed with no penalties.
Party Colt!--------------
-----Nopony has a good time like you! It may hit smaller ponies like you faster but there's no chance you will become addicted to alcohol. You also gain +2 luck while under the effects of alcohol.
Jury Rigging-------------
--- You posses the amazing ability to repair any item with a roughly similar item. Fix an anti materiel rifle with a hunting rifle, a magical energy weapon with a flashlight and some jewels, even power armor with metal armor and duct tape. How does it work? Nopony knows... except you.
Foal at Heart-
--I know you are but what am I! So what if you like foal's stuff like the Shrouded Stallion, you gain unique dialogue options with foals and other foals at heart.
