Considering killing off Pony-Me: Rogue. · 6:18am Dec 13th, 2018
Though I initially thought that writing a spinoff AU to my AU would be fun, it turns out that it's been rather bland, and at worst even stressful in a way. Given how it's on a parallel timeline to the main story, Rogue has to update at the same time as Pony-Me, thus requiring me to write double the chapters for a single update.
Another thing is that I simply don't enjoy writing Rogue as much as I hoped I would. The original reason why I split it off from the main story was to set the main story back on track with its chapters and canon, while at the same time pursuing what could've been an exciting new take on the story.
Unfortunately, it's ended up more as a burden than an enjoyment. Aside from the aforementioned dual chapter updates, Rogue is essentially falling down the rabbit-hole of every AI uprising story I've ever read; bad-tempered, rogue AI gets angrier as time passes while humans attempt to contain it by every possible means, and eventually in the end either the AI is vanquished, or the AI defeats humanity.
It's just an overused trope, and I actually feel like I have less creative freedom in Rogue than I do with the main story, even though it's the OG Pony-Me that's sticking to a strict worldbuilding document while Rogue is much more open-ended.
Share your thoughts below. I plan on canceling the story following the upcoming dual-chapter update that I plan for Friday.
As for Outtakes, since it's basically just a bonus content story, it'll stick around for the time being since it's easier to organize bonus material through that rather than using blogs.
It you're not certain you really want to cancel it but need to step away from it, you can always put it on hiatus while you make the final decision. I'm enjoying both, though the main one certainly is my favorite.

Maybe. It's just that compared to the ballooning chapter lengths of the main story, Rogue's chapter length for the latest chapter is only a small fraction, at around 500 words.
I would either need to have a completely clean-break from the main story's established universe and canon to save the story, or create an entire AU with its own lore, characters, and plot just to keep the story related.
I guess I'll just put it in hiatus following the next chapter update.
