I was watching Legend of Everfree today when I became aware of something.
Having written Magical Curiosity and everything so far in A Magic Turn of Events, I get a strange perspective now when I watch Equestria Girls material. It's akin to watching the final days of the world. The more recent the movie/short, the closer it is to disaster—the spread of magic, the growing acceptance of it by those outside of CHS. They have no idea about the magic catastrophe. I know that's not what the writers were going for; I don't think they're building up to something quite tragic. However, viewing them under this light is interesting to say the least.
Also, heads-up: About four more chapters to go before Turn goes under hiatus to give way to the Conversion Bureau short story. I'm aiming for October 1, if God is willing.

I don't think they'll go the "world turns into a similar Equestria" route. In-universe, just because there's a huge portal in the middle of a storm doesn't mean Earth is slowly becoming Equestrian. Out-universe, there's rumors of plans to continue Equestria Girls after G4, which wouldn't be OK if everyone became non-human anyway.
I'd be content with the world turning magical for just a few seconds in the climax. Now if the plan is to go the way I've laid out and make Earth another magical world...wouldn't that be a curveball?

Well, we'll see. It probably won't go the full "permanent magical apocalypse" route, but magic does seem to be growing more common and disruptive in the human world. Eventually, the authorities HAVE to take notice in some fashion, right? Between the Friendship Games, Juniper's rampage, and all the other bits of stray Equestrian magic, I doubt the princessipals et al. can keep it under wraps much longer. People could have died at the Friendship Games.

Y'know, I predicted random portals ever since Legend, when I theorized that
the Tree of Harmony was Entwining the EQG world Yggdrasil-style. I was inordinately pleased with myself to be proven right.

That does present an interesting possibility for the Stump of Harmony in Legend of Everfree. It's an extension of the Equestrian Tree, growing into another universe.

I wouldn't be surprised if the grand finale of Equestria Girls is worldwide acceptance of magic...so, a G-rated version of Oversaturated.

While I've read of the theory before thanks to Venerable's PMs, it is certainly an interesting possibility. I don't want the writers to leave that stump hanging. Considering how continuity is unexpectedly cherished in the franchise, it's not gonna be out of left field if they refer back to it in a more ominous manner.
