I've still got like, 2 scenes to write in my own, vanity contest entry. I can beat my own deadline, I swear.
If you're a first time author and have to submit your story through the approval queue, as long as it's submitted before the deadline than it'll still count, regardless of when it makes it onto the site. I've got friends on the mod team who can check.

Probably won't be able to submit a story, but I will damn well try. Due to work and some friend emergencies I have about 3 hours to pump out roughly 2k words of acceptable quality. Oh well, there will probably be other Sunset Shipping contests.
Gonna go work really hard now.
Correction, I will get about 500 words in and realize I forgot to sleep. Then I will sleep until I have to leave and end up not finishing this story for like 2-4 months.

Based on how the word-count was ending up I had to limit the scope of the story to the first leg of the journey, which leaves me worried that it won't actually have enough of a journey theme. I only actually got two chapters posted so far, and one of them had to be yanked because it needed major revisions, so when the deadline rolls around my story could just be a prologue with nothing after it, which wouldn't be eligible for submission.
Even so, I'm still trying.

These last two nights I've partaken of a powerful new writing aid that I've discovered, consisting of about 12oz of coffee with about 1oz of tequila, consumed between 10:00pm-10:30pm. What I'm saying is that my entry is brought to you in large part by this very special "all-nighter" concoction. Hopefully it doesn't show too much...
