Equestria Girls Flipped! (Side: Canterlot High part 2)

Alright, so picking up where we left off E!Spike approaches the Canterlot High version of Ditzy Doo to try and get her help. Yeah, he's got plans for how to loosen Sunset's hold over the school and make it clear that he's not just gonna fall in line for her, but there's still a ton about this world he doesn't know about (not the least of which being how to use the technology). Luckily for him,

    Looking for some advice/inspiration.

I'm trying to start a fanfic where the main character has amnesia and I want to avoid the cliche "wakes up going 'where am I who am I?'" approach.

    Thoughts?

Equestria Girls Flipped! (Side: Canterlot High)

So you're all probably wondering what E!Spike is up to while CH!Spike is having fun in Equestria.

Well it starts with him getting to know the local police and their station pretty well.

    Equestria Girls Flipped! (Side: Equestria)

After quite a few failed attempts to start this and a bit of thought I realized it will likely be a lot easier to write (and read) this summary if I divided up the two story lines (Equestria and Canterlot High) and then brought things back together when they actually intersect.

    Therefore, welcome to:

    Equestria Girls Flipped! Side: Equestria

Equestria Girls (Flipped!) · 8:53pm Jul 18th, 2018

Yeah, sorry it took me so long to get to this one folks. In all honesty I had a lot (and I mean a lot) of ideas regarding this one that I've been trying to work out the best way to organize them into something coherent. This is probably due to two factors:

1. Despite the apparent popularity of the Equestria Girls-verse now its introductory movie had a... lukewarm reception. Better reviewers and critics than I have gone over the first Equestria Girls movie's flaws so I won't bother revisiting them here but that leads directly into the second factor

2. One of my favorite things to do with Flipped versions of canon stories was correct/work over the weak points in the canon episodes' stories, and Equestria Girls had a lot that needed some polish.

It also might take me a bit to get all my thoughts on it up since I do have plans for tonight, but I figured I'd rather get it started now rather than risk forgetting about it later.

So without further ado, here's how I would've done

Flipverse: Equestria GirlsWhich really would have needed a different title come to think of it

So our story begins with all of Canterlot preparing for the One-thousand-and-First Summer Sun Celebration! The first one since Luna's return from banishment!

I kindly request that the astute among you take some time to pick up your jaws before proceeding.

So, the whole city is buzzing with excitement because, not only is this going to be the first Summer Sun Celebration in a millennium to have both princesses present, the Heroes of Harmony are going to be part of the ceremony as well! In fact, the train station is jam-packed with ponies waiting to get a glimpse of the Equestria's biggest heroes as they arrive and welcome them to Canterlot's biggest party since the wedding of Cadance and Shining Armor.

And as the train pulls into the station we get to see Spike leaning out the window, enjoying the accolades as everypony cheers at the mere sight of him. Thunderlane and Twilight are quick to warn him about getting a swelled head but most of the others point out that (even given their adventures) they aren't treated like heroes everyday so there's no harm in enjoying this while it lasts. Besides, Spike points out they aren't the only ones with fans in the audience (turns out a small gang of Twilight's fans are present also, wanting to see the dragon that defeated Discord). Naturally the crowd is so thick it takes a retinue of Royal Guards to help the Flipped Six and Twilight get through it all and make it up to the Palace for their meeting with Celestia and Luna.

Up at the castle both princesses are extremely glad the Bearers of Harmony could make it. Celestia takes this moment to thank them once again for saving Luna and for all their other accomplishments since then (Discord, Crystal Empire, Canterlot Wedding, etc). Luna also takes the moment to explain that their presence isn't just going to be for the sake of ceremony: She and Celestia have discussed matters and have decided to officially knight all six of them following the Raising of the Summer Sun!

Naturally the team is bowled over by that bit of news (Mac being the only one who's marginally more embarrassed than overjoyed due to him being the shy one for the Flipped Six), and almost miss that as part of their knighting ceremony they're being given a prominent role in the sun raising. Celestia was hoping, given all that's happened in the past year, that the Elements of Harmony might bless the sunrise with a bit of their magic. Which will, of course, require all six of them up on stage with the princesses to invoke the Element's magic at the moment between moonset and sunrise.

At this point, Thunderlane is the one that winds up pointing out how (despite all their victories) the Elements of Harmony themselves don't have the best track record of being available when they're needed (bringing up things such as Discord hiding them and Sombra corrupting them). Celestia, however, calms him by revealing she's come up with the perfect security measure to protect the Elements from future tampering.

Keeping them out in the open on unshielded display stands in an otherwise empty room.

Yeah, I kid. While that's the appearance, Celestia reveals to them that the Elements actually have a very powerful spell placed over them. One that prevents anyone or anything other than their designated bearer from moving them off the pillars. Not even an earthquake or Celestia herself could remove the Elements now, and the room itself is enchanted to immediately dispel any attempts (magical or mundane) to hide the Elements so that nobody can pull the same trick Discord did when he escaped. Satisfied that the Elements are safe, the team heads off to their respective rooms to rest up after their long trip and start preparing for the upcoming ceremony (which is still a few days away).

As such, none of them notice the hooded pony that was watching from behind the door. Nor does anypony see her as she moves down the hall and into another room before vanishing into a mirror with a strange symbol glowing on its surface...

So later that night (while everypony in the palace is asleep) the mirror starts to glow again. The hooded pony trots back out, followed by a very nervous and clumsy unicorn who seems to be having trouble walking and is freaking out over the fact he has four hooves. He gets shushed by the hooded pony who explains that they need to work fast and quiet or they're in for a lot of trouble. That shuts him up and the two manage to dodge the guards and get to the room the Elements of Harmony are kept in. There the hooded pony has her bumbling lackey grab the Element of Magic, which surprisingly he can, and the two start to make their way back to the mirror.

At this point they run into some unexpected trouble: Spike. Turns out he had a bit too much carrot juice before bed while celebrating his impending knighthood with the others and then got lost on his way back from the bathroom. Now he crashes right into the thief carrying the Element of Magic, causing him to drop it and knocking both of them to the ground. Seeing his Element on the ground Spike realizes what's going on and makes some light to see who the thief is.

And shock of shocks, it's his own face staring back at him. Spike doesn't get a chance to question this before the hooded thief tosses her cloak at him as a distraction (revealing to the audience that she's Sunset Shimmer) and shouting at the other Spike to grab the Element and run. The two thieves take off, Spike managing to pursue them and knocking over his doppelganger again right as he gets into the room the mirror is in. Spike then goes to catch Sunset. He jumps at and manages to tackle her...

Which unfortunately sends them both falling into the glowing mirror, which immediately stops glowing and leaves behind the other Spike (dubbed CH!Spike or Canterlot High!Spike from here on) tapping at it and wondering how he's supposed to get through when the guards suddenly show up having heard all the racket.

Meanwhile the original Spike (Equestria! or E!Spike from here on) finds himself falling out of a statue and landing on top of the Element thief... who has now become some kind of creature he's never seen before. Confused as he is at that it gets even worse when he sees that he himself as been turned into some weird two-legged creature with strange grabby paws like Twilight's only less sharp. The thief, Sunset, is furious with Spike for his interference and shoves him off her before running for the statue they fell out of. There's a weird symbol on it that's starting to vanish, and she pulls out a can of spray-paint and starts trying to reapply it...

At which point they both hear a whistle and realize that someone is coming. Sunset drops the paint and bails, while E!Spike tries and fails to go after her due to his unfamiliarity with his new body. As such, the school's nightguard catches him in front of the statue with the half-finished rune drawn on it.

To be continued...

Ooh, I like this. :D Clever having CH!Spike there.

What a twist! But one that actually makes perfect sense in the Flipped verse, since obviously EqG Spike wouldn't be a little dog there if his Equestrian counterpart is a pony.

Not that it made sense for a dragon to turn into a dog going through the mirror in the first place, but there it is. You know, when it comes to transformations, Spike always seems to be getting the short stick in comparison to the rest of the Mane 6. :rainbowlaugh:
