You Mean I Actually Wrote a Chapter? · 2:57am Jun 4th, 2018
So 2 years after I last did a chapter, I finally did another one.
And I'm so, so sorry it's taken so long.
Without making excuses, a lot of life has happened since then. But I've never lost my determination to keep going with PonyFall. For those who missed it, I posted a comment in the PonyFall Group forums about my plans for the future of the series so go check that out.
Anyway, I'm back. Yay?
And yes I know it's a short chapter. I'm ready to get started on the next one and hopefully it won't take 2 years this time.
Love you all. If anyone is still actually paying attention to me after this long, then you really, truly are awesome.
Cheers,
- Slorgy
Oh my, ! /** Goes off to read */
whoa c.c Slorg exists

I exist in everyone's heart

Slorg bless us, every one.
It must've been a Slorg to get through that funk that's for sure.
Oh my, I had not thought about this story in a while. I may have to re read everything cause I can hardly remember anything about what happen. I do hope the others stories will also update. Will they?
I'm happy it's not dead! I'll definitely have to go and re-read it. I'm excited for it!

Probably not, but at least now they're free to not have to follow what happens in my own story.
I never stopped to believe!
Has it really been two years?
Will you continue "Sweetie Belle and the Journey to the Kingdom of the Frogs"?

I'd really like to. I was on a roll with that one until out of the blue I got multiple criticisms over Sweetie's ability to understand magic. Really hurt my motivation on that one, though I still want to finish that, Ponyfall, and Lyra's Ultimate Item Emporium.
PonyFall is the oldest unfinished story I have, followed by Lyra's Ultimate Item Emporium. I was supposed to write an occasional Sweetie chapter here or there in between chapters for those two stories, then life happened.
So I guess I'll just go with what I said above: I want to continue it. I just need to gets things rolling and hope that life allows me to.

^^^^^^^^^^^^ This here. Don't.
I had to learn one thing the hard way, life NEVER allows you to do what you want. Don't wait for it. Don't hope for it. It isn't going to happen.
If you wanna do something, then you need to do it yourself. You need to make the decision to do it, waiting for a right moment where it finally works out again is futile, cause that moment will never come.
The only right moment that comes is the one where you decide to do it and where you sit down and do it.
Control your life. Don't allow your life to control you.

Well that's the thing.
I'm nearing 40 years old, have a wife and two kids, one of which is a teenager. I work a job in which I've been promoted 7 times in the past 3 years, and one which saps a significant amount of my time. What little free time I have is often dedicated to my wife and children. So the most important things in my life are well under control.
But I do like writing. I've been doing so since the fandom began, but at the cost of time that could have been spent elsewhere. Writing takes time. When I write, I put myself right there with the characters and have a chance to leave the stresses of life behind for a time. But any kind of distraction destroys that immersion. If you've ever lived with a teenager in the house, you'll know that peace and quiet are things to be cherished because there's so little of them.
I had to work to find the time to write the latest PonyFall chapter. I'm happy to continue to work to find time to complete even more writing. But the other parts of my life come first.

Work is needed to find time to do the things you want to do. That is the point I'm making. In this world, you always need to work, even to be able to do the things you love doing. That sounds cruel, but that is how it is. Life doesn't give you presents, only rewards.
That said, I don't know your exact work hours in your job, but set aside an hour of writing each week. Preferably always on the same day, when it fits the best into your daily schedule, to have a fixated place for that.
Perhaps getting up an hour earlier than usual on either Saturday or Sunday when the rest of the family is still asleep. But that's just a suggestion. Go and figure out when that hour of writing works best for you during the week.
An hour a week isn't much and you won't get done much in that one hour, but it's something.
And put on headphones with some relaxing music when your teenager makes noise. Or, just ask them to be quiet while you write, if that doesn't fall on deaf ears because teenager.
There's always a way to write, as long as there is a will.

Heh, I had headphones on when I wrote that last chapter.
Yay!

Good. Try that again.
