State of the Stories + EFNW · 5:37pm May 25th, 2018
Hi everyone!
I'm finally here with updates about what's going on, but before I do that, I'd like to warmly thank everyone who attended my panels at EFNW. I was HELLA nervous, so it was really nice for me and (I'm sure) the other panelists to see such warm receptions. There were a few hiccups here and there, which was to be expected, but I had a lot of fun ESPECIALLY...
Especially during the Characterization panel, when someone asked "who do you think had a strong character development arc in the show" to which I proceeded to GASP VERY LOUDLY, SLAM MY HANDS AGAINST THE TABLE AND was then allowed to go first so I could ramble in detail about Rarity and how great she is and what a fantastic character and what an inspiration and honestly I love Rarity so much.
So yes, again, thank you so much to everyone who came, it was amazing to meet you all and I hope at least 5% of my rambles were maybe useful.
AND NOW FOR STORY STATUS, including a very special but also sad announcement regarding one of my more prominent stories:
The Enchanted Kingdom: Still working on this. I had a kinda bad...uh... self-esteem?? spell with this story, mostly due to stuff that happened during and before the convention, but I've managed to get past it and will resume working on it this weekend and next week. This does mean that my deadlines are now out of wack, but I'd rather provide good content than rushed content.
Iron Author Contest: While I was at Everfree, I participated in the Iron Author contest and wrote a story. I'm currently working on polishing and editing it. It is... It is a very personal story, but it is also a very important story for me to tell, for better or worse. We'll see how it goes.
Tailor of the Court: Working on the new chapter, will probably update soonish.
And finally!
The Weary Travelers of Caelus: Also known as the Grand FinaleTM for the Bodyguard!AU series. For those of you who've read my bodyguard!au stories, you've noticed I've been sprinkling hints to this story here and there, and in fact it made a cameo appearance in The Enchanted Library.
Well, the time has come to finally give closure to this series, and it's a rather bittersweet sensation. Alongside ELverse, the Bodyguard stories are extremely treasured in my heart and one of my favorite things to write for. It was where I truly got my start, and it is a series that has seen me grow and transform myself as a writer. It feels like saying goodbye to a dear friend.
Travelers has a full detailed outline, a lot of heart, a lot of excitement, and I'm expecting 30,000 to 50,000 words of our Princess and her Guard being faced with the ultimate challenge. It will be written in the upcoming months, finished and then either posted or, more likely... I will tuck it away in a corner for some time, let it prepare itself and then simulpost it with the end of the Enchanted Library series to give both AUs a simultaneous and proper send-off.
It's a story I'm dying to tell, and more than that, it's a story that needs to be told since, as we all know, life must go on and sooner or later, whether they want to or not, every little princess must one day become a Queen.
Thanks as always for your support,
Mono
Man I wish I had had the time to stick around for the characterization panel. Ah well. Maybe next year.
Was a lot of fun to hang out at EFNW. Expect Rariscitwi from me soon.
I am so hype for Travelers >:3
dam it I forgot about EFNW was going to go to it this year. I live not far from it.
Twilight and Rarity versus the Monster Cakeapalooza Nightmare Challenge! Two ponies, united against a daunting array of pastries, desserts, and confections! Will Rarity be able to chew through all seven courses by herself and earn her spot on the Wall of Fame? Or will Twilight be forced to sacrifice her own waistline to save her Princess from a grisly fate? It's a thrilling tale of spine-tingling suspense you won't want to miss!
It was great hanging out with you at EFNW. You're a smart cookie, and were a great panelist.
And you have excellent taste in best pony.
If you need another pair of eyes on that thing, I'd be willing to help out. I really want to see that thing on FIMFiction.
I might be biased.
Okay, I am definitely biased.
But I really love the idea behind it.
You should do panels at Bronycon so us on the east coast can have Mono gasps and hand-table-slams!
Also, looking forward to seeing the stories coming out. I'd almost recommend not syncing up Bodyguard and TEK. Stagger them a bit so that Bodyguard!AU comes near the end of TEK so releasing that can give you a boost when you might be feeling down about TEK. Or something. Maybe I just want Bodyguard sooner.
Looking forward to read that.
