S8E9 Not Compete Clause · 3:57pm May 12th, 2018
Not much to say on this episode, just dull and annoying. Rainbow and AJ regress their character development to Season 1, which Twilight even lampshades, the Tokens offer a couple quick quips but are pretty much accessories to a Rainbow and AJ episode, to the point where in the bridge building they stood still and watched as Rainbow and AJ worked. We're just watching AJ and Rainbow compete and be stubborn. But I agree with Rainbow, shed building is a lame field trip, it's more like a normal class, canoeing makes far more sense for a team building field trip. And then the climax randomly has a Pirates of the Carribean shout-out. Okey dokey.
PS - "Everycreature" is already annoying. Did the writers forget that "everybody" and "everyone" have been used freely since Season 1?
This is a bullshit episode and the writer should not be allowed near the show ever again.
This episode was cringe-inducing.
You can't even call this a poor man's "Fall Weather Friends". And it's insulting that this is all they could come up with for an AppleDash episode, and the school theme that was supposed to be the focus of the season.
Yeah, yeah yeah yeah.

I really hope she's not writing any more for this.
I mean, did anyone else notice the lengthy pauses after half the lines? It's like they knew this was a substanceless premise and had to paid the runtime with dead air.
So, after about a week of searching, I finally found a video that showed this both backwards and a higher pitched voice. Considering what I could make out from the title, I felt that was good enough for an episode like this.
And yep, it was exactly what I thought it was going to be. An episode with a premise that I really wanted to see, but with a conflict that I really DIDN'T want to see. Ever since the first episodes of this season, I've been wanting to see what they could with the Mane Six running a school that teaches about Friendship and what sort of interesting conflicts that would ensue.
But instead, we get this... turning the school into a competition... I never liked their rivalry to begin with, and this episode's conflict completely ruins the premise of this episode. (And in the end, it looks like neither of them learned a thing, so we can expect even more of that happening. Ugh...)
They didn't even explain how Fluttershy managed to become Teacher of the month every time. Buuut, I did see quite a funny picture before I saw this episode that explained that perfectly.

I can totally see that being the reason!
