Hispanic Tempest · 10:29pm May 1st, 2018
I've been asked quite a few times why I decided to make Tempest Shadow hispanic in my story 'Dead by Sunset' so I figure I'll just answer it here. One of the big reasons is because I, myself, am hispanic and her speech patterns mimic many of my relatives, a sort of pidgin spanglish mixture that rops between the two languages with ease.
The other big reasons was how I decided to reason out Tempest's existence in the EQG world. Given that she's essentially the crony of a petty dictator and tyrant in the movie, I figured I had to carry that over somehow, but scaled down. Sort of like how the Princesses are school officials.
So I grew up in a pretty, ah, 'hood', area of the U.S. Like, my cousin sold MAC-10's out of his trunk kind of 'hood', and I'm not gonna lie, I've got plenty of relatives on that particular side of the law... Anyway, thanks to them I'm familiar with a relatively infamous gang called The Latin Kings. Now it's strongly puerto rican but it's got a lot of diversity between latin folks, hispanic, cuban, puerto rican, and the like. Point is, I thought about them in here as 'The Storm Kings', led by a petty, overblown gang boss. That's when the notion of Tempest as a kind of chollo gangbanger came to mind and after that it was all I could see her as.
And there you have it, my reasoning.
I dig it & respect you talking more about yourself. Actually Tempest being Hispanic is what made me get hooked (no pun intended) on to your story & haven't been disappointed.

I'm glad you enjoy my interpretation of her, especially since she doesn't really have an EQG fanon interpretation yet that goes in depth.

She may not have one now, but I believe your vision of Tempest will now be the original for EQG
