D&D: why the new OGL is really bad

There's some controversy right now about the new OGL (Open Gaming License) published by Wizards of the Coast, the company behind Dungeons & Dragons.

I don't talk about D&D here a lot, since I know it's not relevant to Fimfiction, but I think it's worth getting this news out. Also they're owned by Hasbro, the same company that own MLP, so it's worth knowing what they're up to.

Contest: rare story prompts · 7:17pm Apr 14th, 2018

A British Gentleman has set up a contest with an interesting premise: he wants to fill in the gaps in Fimfiction's genres, the things people don't usually write much of. The first one is:

First or second person HiE, with a FEMALE point of view character.

As you might or might not have noticed, the humans who visit Equestria are disproportionately male, whether they're named Barrack Obama or Anon. Writing the story from the female human's perspective adds an extra challenge.

What's more, he's roped me into being a judge on this one! It's my first time as a judge, so I'm really hoping it all goes to plan and I don't have to tell anybody that their baby is ugly.

Here's the link to the contest. I should warn you, the timescale is pretty short on this: you only have two weeks. So get writing!

I’m almost tempted to write an Aporia gaiden for it, because it fits that prompt already.

But I’m sure everyone would rather see me finish the thing itself…

Actually, I'd like to see you writing something else. I think it might be good for Aporia for you to dip into other things.

But only if you have an idea you can achieve in two weeks.
