Why I shouldn't be allowed to write my own promos. · 8:54pm Mar 21st, 2018
Once more, we enter the era of me being bored in the evening and instead of writing another chapter of a storyline far longer than it should ever be I'm here thinking about which story in my library to promote.
A genius thought crosses my mind - ALL OF THEM!
So, here they go, totally analytically and completely fairly represented down below, all dark adventure and stuff... well, most of them. Yes, I did post this into the Shameless Self-Promotion Bureau. Yes, I do feel ashamed.
1) Imbalanced (How a totally useless unicorn saved Equestria)
- pros: Sassy characters, protagonist you can point and laugh at, Blazing Light dies.
- cons: Depression. If you actually DO understand the dark depression this story is about, I'm sorry for you had to go through. Been down there, survived that.
2) Diplomatic Relations (Imbalanced 2a: Twilight gets involved and screws things up)
- pros: TWILIGHT! Weird changelings, blood feud, Blazing Light dies.
- cons: to completely understand what's going on, you need to read two other stories.
3) Heroes, Villains, and the Useless guys (Imbalanced 2b: The comedy version)
- pros: rather silly jokes, Flash Sentry gets hit by an overcharged fertility spell, Blazing Light dies.
- cons: aside from one important chapter, mostly unrelated to Imbalanced storyline. Unfinished.
4) Horn and Wings (Imbalanced 2c: The actual continuation of the main storyline)
- pros: serious story, successful romance and love no one would expect from Imbalanced, Blazing Light appears and immediately dies.
- cons: I'm not kidding, you have to read two other stories for this to make sense.
5) No Rest for the Traitor (Imbalanced 3: How a gay griffon saved Hearth's Warming, Blazing Light, and the world)
- pros: action, romance, horrible sex jokes, betrayal, Blazing Light dies (is anyone still surprised at this point?)
- cons: the final arc seems out of place, otherwise even I must admit it's a good story.
6) Thawing the Frozen Heart (Imbalanced 4: How a nice vacation turned horribly wrong.)
- pros: love is in the bloom, love triangle, zombies, the alicorn of Death, Blazing Light dies.
- cons: aside from being the 327th story in the series, actually not bad.
7) The Third Diary (Imbalanced 5: Blazing Light gets really pissed off at the amount of misfortune he's gone through.)
- pros: technically, the final part of original Imbalanced storyline. Blazing crashes a futuristic airship into the cathedral in the capital city of the Griffon Empire and doesn't regret it.
- cons: Blazing Light is an alicorn, finds happiness, love, and survives.
8) Dawn of the Silver Sun (Totally not Imbalanced 6: How a unicorn hobo managed to defeat a god.)
- pros: Not about Blazing Light, mostly. New, exciting characters! Satyr, hippogriff, pink-coloured explosions. Harmony is evil and has his own cult. Blazing Light dies... painfully.
- cons: Still a lot about Blazing Light. Old characters are there too, although as boss NPCs.
9) Shine of the Silver Sun (Not exactly Imbalanced 7: Aftermath.)
- pros: Blazing Light is only a sad memory. Even more new characters! Minotaur boobies. Necromancers. One really sarcastic zombie.
- cons: I still don't understand why so few people like it. I think I overdid it on the big zebra butt jokes.
10) Happiness Is What You Make Of It (Not related to Imbalanced)
- pros: Greyscale is a silly pony. Blazing Light isn't involved or mentioned whatsoever.
- cons: aaah, my eyes are bleeding! (you'll understand) A bit deus-ex machina ending, although there are clues throughout the story.
11) Corrupted Lands (200 years or so after Imbalanced)
- pros: tentacles, cute grumbling, Twilight destroys an entire griffon fleet and frees Manehattan from the grips of Griffon Empire. Harmony gets shafted again. Twilight's got two sons and both are NERDS, but the hot kind!
- cons: gore, sexual descriptions, third arc is horrible and I don't know how to fix iiiiiit!
12) Imbalanced: New Age (Imbalanced 8: WHY DOESN'T HE JUST DIE?!)
- pros: Equestria is corrupted, tentacles everywhere. Alright, who the hay resurrected Blazing Light this time? Nevermind, he's dead again. Discord and Fluttershy get involved.
- cons: Long story, currently the last one in a far too long storyline. If you got here by patient reading, I've got news for you - you're a masochist.
13) Hard to Find the Right Words (Set right after the changeling invasion.)
- pros: written within the few months in which I was actually funny. Sarcasm aplenty- wait, no... total overload. Dialogue only.
- cons: the usual Canterlot invasion changeling survivor in the hooves of her pony enemies trope. You'll shed a tear.
14) An Exercise In Management (More changelings dealing with the falloff from the failed Canterlot invasion)
- pros: More changelings! Changeling lore.
- cons: Not as funny as Words, although maybe slightly cuter.
