Upcoming story simulcast: Triptych/The Elements Of Elements · 12:57pm Jan 14th, 2018
I wanted to give everyone some warning on this one, with extra emphasis on the Patreon supporters.
When the next chapter of Triptych (forty-one downvotes and climbing!) goes up, it'll have a companion piece. On the same day -- possibly within the same five minutes if I can get the timing right -- there will be a new one-shot story posted under The Elements Of Elements anthology banner. And as far as the timeline goes, portions of those two are taking place simultaneously. At the moment the presentation is being given in Trotter's Falls, something's happening back in Ponyville.
Now, for Patreon purposes: this is one new short story and one update, so it'll be a double post charge for two pieces. Please scream at me or adjust your pledges accordingly. But for those supporting me there, I didn't want to do this with zero warning.
For everyone including the pledgers: if you're following Triptych, I recommend reading the update first, then moving over to TEOE. (Which will very quickly close in on forty-two downvotes.) But as we all know, I'm wrong about everything.

This week marks the introduction of a new character to Marvel Puzzle Quest. And frankly, he's someone the community wasn't really expecting to ever get. Yes, he's one of the most senior villains in the MU. Peter has few foes with more experience than he, even when you factor in a rather extended time-out. But still, I don't think anyone believed he'd be coming in. And so far, very few people actually have him, because the event which is granting his initial covers as placement rewards is still wrapping up. But that hasn't stopped the game designers from already starting his PvP event, in which everyone competing is granted a loaner version to use: it just kicked off within the last hour. And the name of said PvP event?
Constant Kraven.

Ok, now why would it be important to note that the two chapters are taking place exactly simultaneously? And what exactly does

WARNING: WILD GUESSES AND SPOILERS!
Ok, way back when, Estee floated a list of story ideas, wanting to know which ones he wanted us to do next. One of those pieces was supposed to be a TEOE chapter, revolving around the two earth pony thieves from the library incident showing up at Ratchette’s and needing a device repaired right this minute. We know that Ratchette is one of his, and that her talent is one of the examples of a cross-tribal magic (She’s a Pegasus who can only work with unicorn devices.) We also know that over in Triptych, Gentle is getting ready to play his hand. I therefore predict that during the Triptych chapter, something is going to happen that “unkinks” the magic of the “warped” ponies, causing them to lose their altered powers and instead regain the normal abilities of their tribe. Meanwhile, over in TEOE, Ratchette is in the middle of performing the repair when her talent changes. All of a sudden, she no longer has the feel for devices, and she is dealing with a pair who are entirely willing to murder her to cover their tracks the moment they realize she’s of no further use to them.
