Random Things--video edition · 5:39pm Dec 2nd, 2017
So if anyone was thinking of getting me a present for Christmas, this video might be helpful.
I'm not saying that y'all need to give me an Irish Cob horse, but I'm not saying don't, either.
Once upon a time, I learned about Haflinger horses. It's a breed that was meant to be multi-purpose--say you have a small dirt farm, and you can't afford specialty horses, you'd get a Haflinger. They weren't too big, and they were typically trained to not only be pulling horses, but also riding horses. They'd usually be capable of pulling a cart or a plow, carrying you in a saddle, carrying a pack, and they could work in teams, too.
There is (or was, at least) a Haflinger show at MSU, and from other livestock shows I've seen, I presume that the horses get points for doing various tasks. Things like carrying a rider, or pulling a cart, or working as a team with all the horses tripping over each other, that kind of thing.
Anyways, when I heard about them, I joked that they were probably also trained to be used as a ladder, if you needed a horse for that.
Well, I can't say that a Haflinger is, but I can report that Irish Cob horses are.
Useful for when you need to get the top apples off the tree, and the horse is happy as long as he gets a few of them to eat.
Finally, this came up in my YouTube feed not that long ago, and I think a lot of people will find it interesting.
Oh, also, it's the time of year to change back to my santa-hatted avatar. While I could spend all day trying to fit a santa hat onto the biscuit in my new avatar, I like my old, traditional avatar with his ear-sized Santa hat.
"Bob, I need to reach that banana."
"That one?"
"That one."
"Whaddaya got?"
"That's my problem. There's the two foot step stool-"
"Nope."
"-the twenty four foot straight ladder-"
"Nothing to lean it on. And why do you even have that?"
"Reasons. Then there's this rope and pulleys-"
"Don't think so."
"-some clown stilts-"
"Dangerous."
"-and these super moon boots."
"How good you at grabbing while flying?"
"..."
"Thought so. Hmmmmmm... What about Ol' Bessie?"
"Y'know-"
"Ha-a-a-ain't nobody using me as a danged o-o-o-ol' ladder!"*
"..."
"..."
"You can talk?!"
~nicker-snort~
P.S. What kinda' hashtag is a "conmemara"?
*[this makes more sense in Mr. Ed's voice]
GIft wrapping a hoss, funniest thing ive seen today.
A horse might be slightly out of my budget, can send you a small pony figurine though?
Just dont let Tommy get a hold of it, or youre gonna end up with matching luggage.

I can't remember the exact dialogue now, but in The Last Unicorn, the cat talks to Molly at one point, and basically says that all cats can talk to people, but they just don't, because they're cats.
What do you think Chonamare was named after?

And you know you've got a good horse when he just stands there like "Okay, I'm being gift wrapped. Whatever."

Small pony figures are also acceptable
I'd imagine the wrapping process is essentially the same, although smaller.

What I really want to know is how long it would take to wrap all the horses.
And how long the wrapping paper would stay on them.
ddddaaawww that is so cute.

Got home early today and I literally had nothing better to do. You don't have to use it, just felt like 'shopping something.

Gotta' love the other horses in the first video. "What's going on? Does it taste good?
Can I help? Nibbling this is helping, right?"
Also, I'm pretty sure "conmemara" isn't a word, so I'm not sure why you'd base a pony town name on it. But, you do you, Biscuit. You always do.

I should change the big header image on my userpage.
<commences to do so>

I feel that MLP ponies sometimes think the same way.

Mmmmm, books.
I'm terrible at picking up subtle hints that I misspelled something.
No, you're supposed to train them to buck the tree trunk. Duh.
*The wrapping, that is. The horse should remain in one piece.

(Pinkie Pie is not a standard horse.)
Also, the facial expression of that poor horse has at the end of the video.

Well, yeah, you could do that for apples and other things that fall off trees. And I suppose it would be quicker.
On the other hand (hoof), a horse ladder can be useful for painting the house or cleaning the gutters and other similar tasks that can't be solved by bucking.

Ideally, yes, the horse should remain in one piece.

He's probably just mad that he didn't get to eat more of the ivy.
