    Small Writing Thing

I participated in another group writing project. You can find it Over here.

I was feeling very cross at the government when I gave Rainbow a metal pipe. I actually love her here though.

What video games do y'all play?

I mostly stick to Warframe, but have occasionally done some Star Craft 2 coop and Arcade. I used to do a lot more single player games, but haven't had a ton of time for such stuff what with the kids and all. Like everyone else, I have a few hundred games in steam from sales/humble bundle that I'll never get around to playing.

So when you aren't reading/writing about colorful marshmallow horses, what games do you play?

Mostly I stick to single player games like Skyrim or Darkest Dungeon, but I also frequent the Warframe as well! Hit me up sometime if you need someone aggressively mediocre around, lol. (player name: Khareesa)

Lol. I'll try to remember! I too am pretty meh at the game, but gear makes for a whole world of difference.

My name is super hard to figure and no one would ever connect it to me. I'm very proud of how I managed to hide in plain sight. ign: kitspony. But ssssh! It's a secret!

The Monster Hunter series is my jam at the moment. Had a month or so dedicated to The Legend of Zelda: Breadth of the Wild, but now back to slaying monsters and getting the booty.

Oh hey, a fellow Tenno.

The Long Dark. I love this game.

I play some LoL and HotS nowadays, though not nearly as much as a year or two ago. I mostly play single player games otherwise. Did just finish a 130+ hour game of Persona 5.

Currently mostly singleplayer games
Mount and blade warband ( several mods) , x3 albion prelude (star wars mod) and napoleon total war (darthmod).

Did CSGO but eh i rather enjoy games that offer me lots of freedom.

Hey, kiddo.

But yeah. Feel free to whisper me if you want someone to just grind with.

4706729
I've heard a lot of people mention monster hunter, but haven't ever really heard about the gameplay. What's it like?

4706762
I haven't play CS since 1.5. I miss the 1.3 AK :/

4706752
I tried to get into LoL with Phoe and Nines Temepst back in the day, but I just don't have the refelexes to deal with it XD

4706741
Can't video at work. Just wanted to reply so you know you're not ignored <3

I've kinda slowed down my gaming in recent years (at least from a variety perspective). I mostly only play Overwatch, PUBG, and Destiny 2. With some Runescape grinding whenever I'm just watching videos or something.

4706783
I've heard the gameplay compares to the Dark Souls series, but I haven't played any of those, so I can't compare. From my experience, it most closely compares to the 3D Zelda games where it's an over-the-shoulder perspective where you have free reign of movement.

The gameplay really depends on what weapon you want to use, as each one has a different set of movements and abilities. They range from big swords, to guns, to lances, and hammers. You go on a hunting quest to take down small, medium, or gargantuan sized monsters.

Your character does not level up, so all stat increases come from weapon and armor upgrades. You fight monsters to make their armor so you can take on even stronger monsters. The story is mostly there to introduce more areas to explore and monsters to fight.

EVE Online and Factorio

You're so sweet.

It's an older trailer but it best captures the spirit of the game IMO.

Right now I am playing Doom. The game is a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be especially on arcade mode.

Actually trying to slowly go through my steam list. Play a game until I'm bored with it, then move onto the next, though it means never beating any of them, at least I get a taste for what I paid for *in some cases years ago*.

Just finished with Space Pirates and Zombies 2, and have been off and on with a card game called Age of Rivals. Fun, simple game. Previous that I had beat X-com 2 again, but only because of the expansion pack they made that altered so much.

Waiting on AI war 2 to come out, god the first one was intense so long as you had a decent computer as literally thousands of ships can be on screen at once. And thinking my next game will be Shantae and the pirate's cove, or another play through of Sins of a Solar Empire. :pinkiehappy:

4706783
Whoa, thats the original HL mod you talking about or? If so that was ages ago hehe

I play mostly filthy casual games for braindeath or sims and rpgs. Currently playing the second most recent Mario and Luigi game for 3ds, Stardew Valley and Skyrim on and off

Been playing Guild Wars 2 with two friends from uni since release (with major breaks, though). We recently picked it up again with the new addon, and it's a lot of fun. I've been playing Overwatch a lot, but with how they disincentivize actually grouping up, it's been more frustration than fun the past few moons, so I play maybe an hour spread over a week ATM.

Sentinels of the Multiverse, Tabletop Simulator (running Sentinels of the Multiverse <.<) and, technically, the Binding of Isaac, though I've shunted that aside for Cuphead of late. :B

I've been told i should try overwatch, but Warframe is a huge timesink already. Between work and kids and trying to do stuff like draw or write, I get maybe 5-8 hours a week i could game. Usually the kids have the computer though D:

4706865
huh. It's got a nifty atmosphere! I'm not familiar with the indie-survival game scene to know much about how these games play out.

4706869
Doom, you say. Which one? I remember playing THE Doom as nagware when it first came out. That was incredible. So much 3d-ish! I'm given to understand game makers stopped numbering titles in favor of causing mass confusion about 5-15 years ago. :<

4706893
I know this feeling. I tend to try to play games with friends, and that's about the only thing that gets me to try something new these days, but I have so many cheap games I got "just in case" or because they were in a bundle. SO MANY D:

I liked X-COM, but haven't tried the newest one. Is it more like classic XCOM or EU?

4707027
Yes. I am old. That was around the time I graduated when they went to CS:S. I played teh beta a bit, but lost interest when I had a full time job.

4707041
I have a special place in my heart for the old FF games. Hate the newer ones. FF IV 5ever

4707070
Overwatch has stuff against grouping up? D:

Playing with friends is basically the only way I play non-SP games these days. Well, I guess I grind Warfarm while I netflix. But that's a thing for when my brain is fried from work

They play out with you dying. This one, anyway. Survival Mode is just you trying to survive as long as you can... but no matter what, someday, you will slip away into the long dark. Beautiful art, music, and sound design; it's a wonderful solo experience.

They added a Story Mode but it's not nearly as evocative as the sandbox Survival Mode, IMO.

4707087
it's similar to EU, but you have a movable base. The aliens won and you are now pretty much a terrorist organization trying to strike back. The new expansion adds alot more to the game play, although I admit to really missing making mech troops as those are gone. it's a good game, but I admit I think EU with the long war mod was funner to me.

4706851
I've heard good things about factorio. May have to try it someday

4707087
Sadly, it does. At least in competitive mode. It does this thing where it assigns a hidden skill level to players based on their stats, which doesn't necessarily match the rank they're in. If you queue up in a group, and it can't find a group of similar size to match you against in your rank range, it will fill the slots with solo queuers or people in smaller groups, but take those with higher MMR (match making rating) to make up for the disadvantage of supposedly being less organized.

If this were true though, and you could out-organize players with better aim, the top of the ladder would be populated by pro teams. It's not. It's exlusively filled with solo queuers, and you're considered throwing a game if you queue with a friend past a certain rank. If I personally queue up with friends, some of which have never touched FPS previously, there's literarlly no advantage in coordination or organization. We're just matched against better players for no other reason than wanting to play together.

We tried playing quickmatch and non-ranked modes, but nobody plays these modes to win, so if you're in a group of 3 or 4 and want to win a game of 6v6 with 2 randoms just trolling, it's a very frustrating experience.

About not playing without friends: I totally get that. Maybe it's a thing that comes with age? If I can't find friends to play with, I'd rather grab my guitar, a book, or a show/anime, depending on my level of exhaustion.

4707101
Yeah. Books and movies. I use games because, despite being incredibly socially anxious, I still want to interact with people who aren't going to ask me to debug their code or fix their radar shit. Honestly, I'd love to be able to write and draw when I'm "done", but my job is so mentally exhausting that I basically zombie out once I'm home.

4707107
I think I know that feeling, although I have little knowlege or experience with social anxiety. I don't have a family of my own, so things are probably very different, but what helped me is just a regular teamspeak / discord / skype / whatever hangout. I'm usually on a teamspeak server with my best friend between 21:00 and 23:00. Sometimes people join us for a few games of Overwatch or Guild Wars 2, sometimes it's just the two of us reading or watching something, but able to share thoughts as soon as they arise. The latter usually leads to the best conversations.

4707087 but the Waltzes in 9... and yeah, I like rpgs til i have to grind and then I often lose interest >< the M&L ones are usually not too bad for that.

Doom from 2016. The game is a lot of fun and plays very differently from other 1st person shooters. The mechanics make you move and engage rather than try to stay in cover and snipe. Deal enough damage to a demon and they will flash which is an indication that if you go up and punch the thing you will perform a glory kill which is especially brutal and always gives you health back (the more injured you are the more you get). This means you are always charging into the fray and trying to melee enemies after blasting them with a shotgun.

If you pay the arcade mode it is very cathartic since you have all the boosts to your weapons so you can just enjoy blasting through al the enemies without worrying whether you checked that one corner for a secret. If you play the standard campaign you wil spend a lot of time trying to find every secret so for exploration folks that aspect will be in pay greatly.

The game also looks and sounds great so I recommend it if you like that sort of game.

Playing through Fallout 4 these days.

4707087
I loved classic XCOM—was one of my favorites for a very long time. I have the new XCOM... never really got into it, not sure why. Not that that means much, mind you.

I'm not playing as much as I usually do, with school and all, but I'm mostly playing PUBG and Vermintide right now.

Some SC2 Coop/Arcade definitely sounds fun though, even though I haven't touched the game for almost a year now.

4707361
I'm really bad at SC2 <.<

I'm going to try to remember to actually lookup my user names and post them and friend people tonight. No kid activities so I might actually get to it

JAG

Mainly Halo 5 and Overwatch, these days, supplemented with Far Cry: Primal, Civilization V, and Star Wars Battlefront.
