Hey all,
The synopsis is this...
Should I return to Dragon King Rebirth
-or-
Stick with Dragon King Homecoming?
Rant below....
After talking with Mix-Up and getting some feedback I want some more input.
Flint and the Dragon King Rebirth has been my claim to fame here. I don't know how many of you were brought to my door because of it or my charm 
With Rebirth I began to fee roadblocked. The second person, was a favorite when I started here but I will admit lost its luster. In addition I wasn't all to sure where to go with the story. Several different ideas were buzzing but eventually this well dried up.
I hoped to solve these problems with Dragon King Homecoming. An alternate universe story where Flint was older and present for the canon series, even playing a part in the story of the main cast. While passionate, that too began to waver.
So. I ask which do you prefer? Should I finish up Rebirth and delve into some future
Avenues or should I make a clean break?
I want to hear from you all.
I like Rebirth the most, but you should of course write the one that you get the most enjoyment out of writing.

I suppose your right. I do have a way I want to finish it at least.
perhaps you simply need a break from both. if they start to feel like a drag. maybe write a short oneshot just to get the creative juice flowing and rekindle that fire. Its what I do from time to time.

well i suppose thats true, but still theres got to be a few random bits of ideas in that grandiose head that would work as just a simple short.
I like rebirth more. Im going to have to read it again though because it's been a while. I always liked the thought of a Dragon being reformed to a powerless colt. Seeing him struggle through life just like the rest of them. That's just an opinion. I'll read either one though

If you enjoy first person more, then go for it. I'm sure either way, readers will like it. You could even do both, I see authors do it all the time on here. Just an easier way to lay out an event.
I think you would need to rewrite the entire thing from the ground up
If I had to choose between the two, Homecoming is the one I'm looking forward to more. I still adore Rebirth though, what with the colt angle and friendships with the other foals of Ponyville. Thing is though, without timeskips, they are really two different kinds of stories. Homecoming has the adult concerns of Flint, plus that relationship he has with his sister and family that hasn't yet begun in Rebirth. It's almost like a sneak preview of Rebirth in a way, of what to expect could come out of it.
That said, Homecoming's interactions with the mane six is golden, and bound to be even more golden as details of Flint's terrible punishment from the Elements of Harmony, of being forced to be a friend and participate, begin to emerge.
I have to wonder though if the Flints from the two stories are similar in the sense that older Flint has gone through a number of the epiphanies that younger Flint is going through in Rebirth, or has to have different, separate ones on his own. I'm guessing the former.
I prefer Rebirth, mostly because I want to see that story continue.
I definitely showed up for the charm.
I would say if you're going to pick one up again I'd go with homecoming. There seems to be more potential there, as well as the interactions with the mane 6. A total start over would be interesting too, and maybe work your way from the end back to the beginning. Either way will be epic.

I would vote for rebirth. There are so many unanswered Questions do the princesses ever find out about his predicament; if so is it through his dreams? how does he feel about Spike? Those kind of things.
I like Rebirth. I don't recommend a re-write; its a lot of work and will push you towards burnout and never finishing the story. I never minded what was already written of Rebirth. I don't need a definitive ending - an ending to the current arc is fine for me. Perhaps set a manageable climax for Rebirth and when that's done let everyone know you have future plans for a sequel story for your more lofty ideas. The thing is to get the current story done, take a break, and come back renewed for a sequel story - if you still want to afterward.
