Well, already watched one early ep, what’s another at this point?

So first I just wanna say the opener is cute. I know we see Pinkie baking all the time but they never much dwell on how hard it can be to be a professional baker. I help my mom cook on occasion and it was fun to see Pinkie just knows the right amount of the right ingredients to add while the naive Twilight asks about proper measurements and recipes.

“You sure are going through a lot of trouble for Rainbow Dash’s pie.” And I’m sure the brony fandom won’t exploit that bit at all.

Sky Stinger and Vapor Trail cameo ftw. Cool to see Rainbow not even flinch at Spitfire calling her “Crash”, show she’s gotten over the nickname. I liked seeing the party cave again for a logical reason as Pinkie looks up her files on past pies she’s made for Rainbow. LOVE seeing the detective get-up return. Pinkie’s investigation was fun and her mood swings when confronting Rainbow are hilarous. Then we go for the full breakdown. “You sure you don’t have to... blink?”

Applebrow returns.

“Do you have any idea how many pies you’ve baked for me over the years?”
“Yes, I do. I know exactly how many.”

So yeah, this was a fun episode. From the teaser blurb I expected to file this under “Season 2 Refugee” but they pulled it off nicely. There was good humor and it did some new stuff with Pinkie. I guess I can behind the idea that Rainbow wouldn’t like Pinkie’s pies but would lie to spare her feelings, people do that. Though, “pies” specifically wasn’t ever Pinkie’s thing, just baked goods in general. Couldn’t Rainbow just let her know she prefers cake? Eh, whatever, still a neat little episode.

When I saw the synopsis on this one, I groaned. It told me the entire plot from just that, and how it was going to end. Rainbow Dash didn't like pies. She lied to spare Pinkie's feelings. In the end, Pinkie's hurt, Rainbow Dash apologizes and makes it up to her, they hug, the end.

It played out the exact way I thought it would. It was really funny to see all the ways Rainbow Dash was getting rid of the pies, and I thought every time she gave them to other ponies was very sweet. But there's a theme to this that I just don't get at all. From the start I asked, "Why is Rainbow Dash lying in the first place?" And then Pinkie Pie revealed something that made it even worse...

Pinkie Pie has been doing this for years... For years... as in, all the way back in season 1? The characters have changed a lot over the course of these years, and Rainbow Dash is definitely one of them. Back then, she would not hesitate to tell the truth even if it harmed their feelings. Remember... I think the episode was called, "Suited For Success"? She was the first one to tell Rarity how she really felt about those dresses.

So yeah, this episode was entertaining, but the plot itself made no sense from the beginning to me. I would've loved to hear how Rainbow Dash's pie donations have really made other ponies happy though.

4691272 I had kind of the same feeling. Story was predictable as ever, though I feel like there was little else to redeem this episode.

One way I thought it could've redeemed itself was if it was more focused on the fact that Rainbow Dash was donating all those pies to charity practically.

So, DrakeyC, just realized something... Your game, Filly Fantasy 6, has Apple Pies in it. According to this episode, Rainbow Dash hates all kinds of pies. What would that make for your game if you gave Rainbow Dash an Apple Pie for healing in Filly Fantasy 6? Future or Present.
