There are few feelings for an author quite as wonderful as receiving fan art, all the more because I found it by sheer chance. While the artist MrRicharZ has taken it down from Derpibooru he was kind enough to let me use his work as cover art for the story.
I like that story enough (and have grown fond enough of listening to dramatic reads) that I have commissioned one from our own Skijarama!

I've always been big on including elements of sacrifice and acceptance of difficult issues and maybe it would cheapen the emotion but dammit I want Applejack's parents to be imprisoned and rescued along with the other Legends of Harmony so they can go home together and live happily.

Yeah, bringing back Pear Butter and Bright Mac, it would just completely ruin the impact of their deaths on the Apple Family. Best to let them rest.
This won't happen, and fans would hate it if it did, but I've been toying with what the impact would be if one parent returned. We'd get a lot of heartwarming feel goodness while not negating all the feelings of loss and how tight knit the apples are. Can you imagine being a little kid and identifying with the apples for being orphans, and then later nope, turns out their parents aren't dead. Yours still are though.
