The Winning Streak Continues! · 2:21am Sep 18th, 2017

There's a writeoff wrapping up this weekend! True Colors. And for the second and third times in a row, I was actually able to write something without flipping out and going crazy. Now, I know some people may say, "Well, I'm glad you had fun writing, but as a reader I gotta ask: is what you wrote any good?" And you know what I say to those people!?

Yes. I say, "Yes, actually, I think it is good." And they're all, "Yeah, okay. Neat."

One of my entries is still in the contest, so I cannot reveal its identity yet. But the other is open game, so for your enjoyment, I present my latest story:

When Rarity makes a brilliant magical discovery, it's time to make all of Ponyville objectively better.

Congratulations. :)
Now, off to read!

Might as well post my bit of stupidity soon. I haven't even read the comments on it yet, but dumb humor never seems to do very well in write-offs.

Read the comments. That story has some genuine A-material in it, and could be a laugh-out-loud comedy, but I think it needs a few edits before it's ready for posting.

Yay!

Well, one of your stories can be pointed to as objectively good (where "good" is measured as "more deserving of making finals than 60% of submitted stories in the judgment of Writeoff voters", anyway). But the universe sure does love her some irony. :raritywink:

Seriously though, I stand by my qualified praise of Truth, and am looking forward to seeing the revisions. I had you pegged for it in author guessing — now to figure out which other one was yours!

Hm. I seem to have gotten the "Write-Off Special." One of the many reasons I rarely participate anymore is because when I don't make finals, I can't tell why. All the feedback is pretty positive, if vague. I have little idea of what needs fixing. That's the only reason to put it in a write-off, versus just writing and publishing it on my own, is to get a test feel for what people think of it, and a lot of the time, I can't even get that. Compare to my last minific entry, where several people pointed out specific things they thought didn't work, yet that one finished very high, and this time I get a bunch of "hey, that was pretty funny," followed by not making the cut. So I dunno. It doesn't sound like it's going to get much more of a reaction than it already does.

Link me to your G-doc. I will make detailed comments. ^_^
