Teen Titans Go! to be aired for 89 out of 96 hours: 7/31 - 8/3 · 8:26pm Jul 27th, 2017

I await the suicide rate spike numbers with interest.

Yeah, those seven hours of deprivation will be tough.
:trollestia:

They're trying to kill as many people as possible before Young Justice returns.

To put a particular reference on this concerning matter... Teen Titan's Go is like Cartoon Network's back mole... It may had been fine a few years ago, but now that's it's grown frighteningly bigger, it's no longer wise to ignore it.

I've never watched Teen Titans Go. Is it really that bad?

You lived through the commercials: you can live through this.

I have to clarify: I don't hate TTG -- most of the time. Its dominant identity is sophomoric toilet humor. Fine. That's what it wants to be. It just tends to be badly-written sophomoric toilet humor. There's nothing wrong with going for the grossout when it's done well. This usually isn't. And when you throw in the way the current crop of writers seem determined to outright destroy every last bit of the original series...

They could coexist. Each series could be its own entity. But instead, the first run is attacked. Anyone who enjoyed that original must be mocked. And both of those things seem to take priority over writing anything funny.

It may not be a coincidence that this official studio artwork was seen at ComicCon. A strike back was pretty much inevitable.

I've smiled lightly at the newer series, once or twice. Maybe a giggle here and there. But it doesn't make me laugh. All the seasons which have aired to date haven't produced a single moment equal to this one:

I own a complete run of the original, and I'm a little proud to say that. It's worth owning.

I have not paid for a single episode of TTG. I doubt I ever will.

I've also already seen one person saying this may be a move to kill Ok K.O! on Day One, as that's what'll make up the non-TTG hours during that mega-block.

Or we could just get a knife and cut it out.

Your mileage may vary. For me, on its best days, it's moderately amusing, and a decent line has been known to sneak past the editing here and there. There's even been a few watchable episodes.

But on the worst of airings, it can be regarded as Teen Titans Adult Party Cartoon: we are going to take any hope you had of wanting to live and we are going to shut. it. down. It has the same mindless determination towards repeating its bad jokes as the worst Adam Sandler movies, where virtually no one finds anything funny any more unless they're the writer, but we're going to hear those jokes anyway because they're all that writer has and hey, they worked once! For someone. And if you don't find it funny, then you're going to be the next joke.

(Side note: Metacritic just posted a list of their worst twenty modern directors. Guess how many of those people worked with Sandler. Hint: it's more than zero.)

Its defense for itself is "You think we're dumb? Then you're the stupid one! Nyah-nyah!" And that's all it aspires to. The only thing it can think about at all.

It knows exactly what it is and it isn't any good at it.

I distinctly recall the original Teen Titans being a high quality series: at it's best, it rivalled the likes of Batman: The Animated Series, and the nineties X-Men cartoon. This version just sounds pathetic, and I find that rather sad.

True, but surgery is left to professionals... of course, these professionals at Cartoon Network are rather hit and miss. Think of it, Steven's Universe was a complete hit... but TT: Go was a complete miss... now, if you excuse me, I need to bleach this from my mind

I wish I could say I was only disappointed, but I'm not. I'm mad. The writers for the show are big manchildren who take criticism about as well as Donald Trump, and when they get their way (and they always do, because... are they the guys in charge or the children of the guys in charge?) it hurts everything else CN has to offer, and it does have good stuff.

in my mind tt:go is like spongebob, you snicker about the absurdity of it at first but it becomes too much very fast!

The problem with Go! is the fact that even the writers have admitted, rather bluntly, that they aren't even trying, even going so far as saying that they are intentionally making the humor as stupid as possible.

What's especially sad to me is that the original series was really what got me going in terms of fan fiction. I got out a chapter every week. Period. I've never put out so much so consistently since I finished that first crossover (because this is me we're talking about; I get card games in everything.) To see it reduced to the dreck I've seen from Go, and to see its memory disrespected by said dreck...

I'm not mad, but I'm very disappointed.

Well, that might be horrible, true, but look further into the bright future: we'll be getting some quality Titan soon enough.

Hopefully.

I actually like it.

Ah, Teen Titans Go! A fantastic way to turn a top-tier animated series with meaningful characters and exploration of things like emotions into a gag-laden gag-fest. Not that there aren't some decent parts in TTG, but it just doesn't hold up, especially when you think back to just about any aspect of the original.

I'm sorry everpony.

I'm sorry, because I find TTG to be unqualifiedly HILARIOUS.

For me, it is in the same league as Rock Lee's Ninja Pals. Parody is one of my favourite sorts of humour, and TTG is often so very, very dark in the humour and it's slapped on the silly, silly, silliness on top and I find it absolutely hilarious. And never more when it is taking the mickey out of itself and the show as it was. (Let's Get Serious, where they had Aqualad come in, I found explosivelty side-splitting when a lot of people found it actually offensive.)

(Now, if it wasn't based on TT, I wouldn't find nearly as funny, even if everything else was the same. But it is, so I do.)

I also find TTG!Robin to be a WAAAAAAY more fun character that Actual!Robin, who I always found was Batman!Light (And I don't - Adam West, bless 'is spandex socks, aside - particularly like Batman as a character and only then as part of a team.) Actually, that probably says a lot about why I find TTG so damn funny.

(Notably, Robin in Young Justice? Liked him - both of 'em, to be fair - more than TT!Robin.)

So apparently 37-year old Evil Liches are the show's true target audience.

To me, the tragedy is not that TTG exists, it's that it was not allowed to co-exist with TT and/or Young Justice. (And, as I qualify the latter as one of the best western cartoons to come out, alongside the likes of Avatar, W.i.t.c.h and Centurions, I really do hopw they get that rumoured third season.)

(To really depress you, we are at the point where nearly +50% more TTG exists than TT.)

I'd personally be fine with it if it didn't have all the mean spirited humor. If you want to do parody right look at TFS and SWOA.

No lie though. The serious episode and the elevator episode are fucking hilarious.

The only way TTG is ever gonna be tolerable is that if in the last episode, the REAL Titans showed up and kicked the shit outta those morons.

TTG wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't the only thing on CN

"But Powerpuff Girls and Ben 10-"
TTG. Wouldn't. Be. So. Bad. If. It. Wasn't. The. Only. Thing. On. CN.
