A Silly Rant About MLP: FIM (Or Something)
Before I start this rant, please be aware that this is mostly just me formulating the odd thoughts that pass through my mind into coherent sentences. Don't take what I am about to write too seriously. I do in fact like ponies (as weird as their glowing butt marks and unnecessary song numbers are).
That being said, I will get into this.
It is the year 2017 and I want a show about Dragons. Is this too much to ask? If you want to know my opinion, dragons are the best ponies.
I am still waiting for a My Little Dragon show. The My Little Dragon show could focus on the dragons, griffons, anthros, Changelings, Discord, the Yaks, other sentient animals, and other fantasy creatures of the world. Ponies are okay, don't get me wrong. But I watch the show for the other fantasy creatures. I bet you don't find lots of people like me in the fandom. :P
All ponies are pretty much on the same level for me. They are colorful and kind of annoying. Like...would it kill the animators to make normal colored horses/ ponies? :/
With the fantasy creatures it makes sense that they are different colors. But horses and ponies biologically are not pink or green or whatever. I dunno. This kind of bothers me (when my scientific mind kicks in).
When the ponies are human they basically look like the characters from Doug. In fact, in my warped little mind, I'd like to believe that the Doug characters belong to the same universe. But eh...I suppose I can forgive the multicolored humans as, for all we know, they could be some kind of alien humanoid species.
But multi colored horses/ ponies? Whyyy???
And the ideas of cutie marks, the more I think of it is really dumb. I mean the show makes it seem cool (which is an achievement) but the more you think about cutie marks the less they make sense. Why should some random butt mark determine your destiny?? Like...did the original ponies/ some cultures of horses just cast a spell one day that would essentially guide them to their destiny? I have a hard time believing this is biological. You know that these weird rainbow-colored ponies did something to tamper with the laws of physics. And it makes me kind of mad. <_<
And why the heck do ponies break into songs randomly? I mean they could be doing something as mundane about walking their dog and they would make a song out of it. And all of the other ponies in the city/ in the general area them would SOMEHOW know the lyrics to the song they just made up and sing along. Like...do they read each other's minds to know how to sing the same song every time?? The more I think about this, the more it kind of freaks me out.
Anyway...I am glad that I was able to get all of that off of my chest. Maybe I will be the one to make the My Little Dragon franchise, free of multicolored ponies and glowing butt marks. Hasbro, I'm right here. Pay me to make this shit. I promise that I will do a good job. :')

I also like how a lot, if not most, of the ponies in the shows' given names revolve around their cutie marks, despite the show's emphasizing of everypony being born with the idea of "finding their own destiny" and earning their own special cutie mark. It just seems all too convenient that a pony named Carrot Top's cutie mark is, naturally, carrots. I always thought that was funny.

Ok, let's start and cover your complaints one by one (cause I have way too much time on my hands)
Number 1: Dragons
You want dragons? The show has a dragon as one of the main characters (despite what others may or may not say). They do episodes with dragons as the main focus. You want dragons? They got dragons.
Number 2: colored ponies
Dr Whooves. Now that is a normal pony. You ask and you shalst receive.
Number 3: Cutiemarks
Magic. Enough said.
Number 4: the songs
Because little kids love that shit and they are copying Disney.

Honestly I miss when MLP was more fantasy and less mundane modern life. When little ponies had to deal with magical and crazy stuff. Now I am waiting till we get a tax episode.
As for pastel colors well it is simple really. It is their defense mechanism. You see bright sparkly colors is nature telling predators that this being is dangerous! Poisonous/venomous even. Ponies have also evolved supernatural levels of cuteness that disarms any would be predator. After all could you bring yourself to harm this:

The cutie marks are actually scary. They indicate your status in the society and you can't do anything about it! And everyone knows your deepest desire by just looking at your but. Most likely was magical way of, now gone master race, to keep track of ponies.

I kind of like the slice of life episodes. But I agree. It would be nice to have more magic/ fantasy/ adventure based episodes every once in a while.

Oh no no no no I do like Slice of Life, they are touching episodes. I just find Equestria to have become more like modern world and less like well magical place where ponies tended to nature.
4587384 It seems like they do a little bit of both. Which is good. Because there are only so many fantasy adventures you can write about before you run out of story ideas. So it is good to have a good mix of the two.
