I have not identified with Princess Luna this strongly in a long time.
This episode...good lord is it full of tasty little details that make an ol' Princess shipper like me absolutely giggly! Everything about the sister's relationship with each other is hilarious and on point. It also speaks to me with the whole overworked and overwhelmed while trying to hide it aspects of Celestia's and Luna's normal duties and then they are both too exhausted every day to even try to be civil with each other. That was my life for the last 3 years.
The little things, like Celestia cooking pancakes (which didn't Twilight do that a few seasons ago when she wasn't sleeping well?). Luna giving no fucks. The banana joke. Celestia talking to herself when alone. Twilight doing her best at not helping. The whole freakout at the end with the angry 'tell me everything!' she does with Starlight.
And on top of all that, we have a new BEST PONY:
Yeah, you can expect her to show up in something from me soon enough.

Yeah, my friend told me to watch the new episode with him because of the premise and I did, despite not having watched any horse in a long time.
It was soooo good. One of my favourite episodes probably. Wish it was longer just so they could explore it with a pacing that felt more appropriate.

Pretty okay! Doing exams at the moment, and also playing a shitton of Hearthstone, and also just started watching the seasons of MLP i missed out on. Really good stuff. Been thinking of writing something or other soon, when I have time.

On the personal side, I'm not doing so hot. Health issues continue to plague me. But I've otherwise done well with my writing. I've gotten better at it, faster too. Recently I've tried to get back into sketching again and I've sort of re-picked up gaming with the occasional DnD session.

If I'm not misunderstanding, both Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon were manifestations of Starlight's imagination. It's entirely possible that both of them were simply representative of what Starlight envisioned them of being capable of, rather than being accurate depictions of their real abilities. Granted, I think there's plenty of things throughout the series to suggest that her vision is pretty close to reality, and that Celestia/Luna just tend to get the same treatment Discord did in the last finale where the writers have to come up with special circumstances/conditions that limit their ability to solve the problem.
Also, sorry to hear you're not doing too well health-wise. Hope things start getting better. Or at the absolute least, just don't get too horrible.

I do agree with you though, that this is probably Starlight's nightmare addled subconscious coming up with the logical next step in the idea of Celestia going evil. Honestly, I think the line where Daybreaker calls herself the prettier version of Celestia really seals that this in Starlight's mind much more so than what would "really" happen.
4540971 Another interesting bit is that this is Starlight projecting, not her fears about Celestia, but herself. I mean this is yet another episode that proves how OP she is, and she knows she can be evil, so maybe a lot of Daybreaker's lines could easily fit evil suped up version of Starlight as well.

Yeah, I could totally see a lot of that as projecting on Starlight's part. But I'd also say she still keeps it 'close enough' that Celestia reacts to it like a real threat rather than just telling Starlight that it's all a dream, etc. The thing that gets me is that now that the idea of Daybreaker has been touched on, there are two things to think about (that the show will likely never even mention): Twilight's reaction to it, and the fact that Luna saw it.
Luna has the ability to bring dreams to life, sometimes even without meaning to ala the Tantabus from Do Princesses Dream of Magical Sheep. So it's a fairly easy extrapolation that she could infect others, or outright make Daybreaker real via that same sort of magic.
But that's what fanfiction is for.
