Review #73 - Golden Tears, Solving for Death · 1:26am Mar 12th, 2017

Ok, so I've been watching this show called Red vs Blue on Netfilx, which, despite the rudeness, is utterly hilarious. Anyway, I guess I should promote something, right?
*Blink And You Miss It -A story inspired by, but completely unrelated to the Blink-verse. Also my favorite teleportation fic so far.
*This amazing blog I found on how to be a better critic -Read it, it might just have some advice for something you don't even know you're doing wrong.

As always, I will put down my recommendations, but I truly hope that you to make the choice on whether to read a fic or not yourself.

(Sad)
During "Twilight's Kingdom", Tirek gave Discord some free time to be himself and have some chaotic fun, while he goes inside the castle to talk to the princesses. What did Discord do during his free time?

Review
This one is definitely meant to be a sadfic. Though, there is quite a bit of slice of life in here, too. I guess I talk about Discord, seeing how he is the main character. Discord is... hard to analyze... as he is at war with himself in this fic. He wants to believe that everyone saw his betrayal coming, but he knows that they didn't. So, yeah... he battles with himself. The golden harp thing is pretty much just a representation of his conscience.

Anyway, the greatest weakness would be that it tries a bit too hard to be sad. Sure, it plays with your heart strings, but it's just not quite there. Also, saying "The End" at the end just killed the mood.

Recommendation: Worth Reading. (Simply due to the fact that it tries too hard. Though in terms of ideas, I like it).

(Alternate Universe, Comedy, Dark)
In a miscommunication gone awry, Starlight Glimmer has killed Twilight Sparkle with a fork. Luckily for Twilight, Starlight's already acquired a resumé in doing the impossible. She's totally got this.

Review
This is definitely a comedy. A dark comedy at that. The first pony I shall talk about is Starlight. Starlight's reaction is surprisingly calm since she just killed Twilight. Well, that and how easily we see her freak out in To Where and Back Again. However, in the second half of the fic, we really see how much she cares about getting Twilight back. I'm not gonna say any spoilers, but it's a lot. Now for Spike. Spike is very panicked, just like he would be in such a situation. And now for Celestia. Celestia is up to her usual antics of, mostly, letting the protagonist figure it out for her, or him, self. The last pony would be Twilight, who I am only mentioning because I don't like her for some reason. I had something else to say about this, but I can't remember... oh well, if I remember I'll come back and edit. Ah, yes, I remember, it was two things. The first of which is that it was featured in the Royal Canterlot Library and the thing for that can be found here. The second was that I actually enjoy this more than I enjoyed how the episode played that scene.

The greatest weakness of this one would have to be that the jokes feel used too much, old, and/or antiquated if you read it more than once. So, read it once, enjoy it, come back and read it again if you forget what happens.

Recommendation: Recommended/ nearly Highly Recommended. (Even with my complaints, this is a great fic the first time you read it).

Oh wow, first of all, thank you so much for reviewing one of the fanfics just out of the blue and giving me such a pleasant surprise:D I'm deeply flattered ^^ Especially since it's of my older fanfics, as in the fanfics from the beginning of my "MLP fanfic career";) How in the world did you find this fanfic, especially since it is not one of my more viewed fanfics on my accounts?:derpytongue2: I guess like the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop, the world may never know;) Lol! Anyway, thank you for being kind in your review and still giving this fanfic a "worth a read" recommendation despite the fact that I tried WAAYYY too hard to make it a sadfic:yay: And I agree, after looking back at it, I really did try WAAYY too hard to make it a sadfic and in result, make the fanfic majorly lose the emotion that I was going for. And I agree, now looking back at it, it was a totally mood killer to put "The End" at the end of the fanficXD Oh my word, why did I do that?!XD Especially since this fanfic supposedly took place in the middle of the Season 4 finale episodes. Oh man, I was such a young little writerXD ;) Haha I guess I was just all caught up in the emotion of my story idea and of the Season 4 finale:twilightblush: If you want to see how I've improved since this story, I highly recommend you check out my newer completed stories like "The Mare Who Became Queen":) I feel like I need some honest critique on it since it's going to be an audio drama soon and I'm curious on a non-fluttercord fan's perspective on it;) Anyway, thank you for your wonderful review and have a good day:)

No problem.

I don't know how I found it, probably by following a long, long trail of followers.

And sure, I'll add what I don't already have on my shelves to my shelves.
