Welcome to my Weekly Gaming Blog!

This week's coverage: Pokemon Shuffle, Pokemon Sun, and Shantae: Risky's Revenge (Director's Cut).

Before we get into the meat of this blog, though, have a video of me sucking hilariously at Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3:

Newly acquired games this week:

Shantae: Risky's Revenge (Director's Cut)

Shantitty! :pinkiehappy:

So I started playing Risky's Revenge this weekend. The Shantae games need more love than they get. Seriously.

What you have here is old-school platform gaming with non-intuitive pathfinding (that gets a little frustrating in places, admittedly), quirky characters, and fanservice out the wazoo. Shantae herself, Risky Boots, Rottytops...

There's no shortage of cute, sexy, half-naked characters to love here.

Pokemon Sun

Raichu is a Radical Rat!

So I took advantage of a period of permanent natural rain outside Po Town to evolve Sligoo into Goodra because the natural rain requirement is one of the most bullshit evolution requirements, I mean come on. That kinda held me in place for a while, but now it's time to get the plot moving in a forwardly direction again.

Shantae and the Pirates Curse has even more fanservice, and the pathfinding is a lot less annoying than Risky's Revenge. The basic gameplay is the same, but the abilities you gain are... distinctly different. It brings back all the popular characters, too. Risky, Rottytops (and her brothers Abner and Poe), Sky, Bolo, the various Barons, and more I can't remember offhand.

Half-Genie Hero, on the other hand, has pathfinding more like Pirate's Curse but abilities like Risky's Revenge. Also the sprites aren't pixelated anymore, it's HD vector art just like the big cutscene pictures.

Edit: Forgot to mention, both are great games that I have played / am still playing repeatedly.

Edit: For comparison, I've only played through Risky's Revenge twice, because it's just that annoying to get around from place to place.

4416499 Yeah, I'm going through them in order. I already have Risky's Revenge and Pirate's Curse. I'll be getting Half-Genie Hero later this year.

4416499 Sorry but the Senran Kagura series beats Shante in terms of fanservice:

4416568 No, and I'm probably not likely to. I'm fine with that. It's a little too old at this point. :P

So was that MVC fight against someone online, or were you practicing against the AI?

OK can they seriously not just add some fucking Alola Pokemon to Shuffle already? Instead of YET ANOTHER FACE-MAKING PIKACHU?!

DON'T TALK SHIT ABOUT PIKACHU! :flutterrage:

My Raichu in Y was a badass (and my first ever) so when I saw what they did to him...

No. I'm sorry, but I can't support a game where they take one of my favorite Pokémon and turn him into some fucking fairy shit. :twilightangry2:

And God forbid if they ever do anything to Lucario. :fluttershbad:

4416692

HE LOOKS LIKE A GODDAMN-

Wait did you say psychic? :rainbowhuh:

What? :rainbowderp:

WHAT!? :pinkiegasp:

4416648 Arcade Mode.

4416683 Dude, you wanna calm down for a fucking minute? I'm not talking about Pikachu/Raichu in any main Pokemon games. i'm talking about how there are TEN DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF PIKACHU in Pokemon Shuffle (you know, the match-three puzzle game?) and the only difference between them are the different facial expressions and a different match skill for each.

Also, Alola Raichu is Electric/Psychic, learns Psychic on evolution, and is so badass he's at the front of my party right now. So shut up.

4416723

I am totally calm. I've never played Shuffle but I'm guessing the whole Pikachu is because well, it's Pikachu. He's got like ten million versions of himself.

While I admit the idea of Raichu being a psychic type is cool I just... can't stand the looks. It sounds stupid I know but I practically grew up with Pokémon and I don't complain about looks of new Pokemon, I just don't like them messing with the originals.

The originals are sacred ground and I bet I can find at least fifty people who'd agree. :fluttershysad:

What do you mean you suck at UMVC3? That was infinitely better than my experience for the first two months I had the game! For that, I deeply honor you. (bows) [no sarcasm involved]

Also, I'm sorry if I offended you or something on the last blog post, I always forget that most people aren't hardcore game freaks like me.

And I could give you some pointers if you need them, I'm always open for advice.

4417607 Thanks, I appreciate it. And nah, I just play fighting games for fun/the characters, I'm not into deep competition or explorng the depths of combos and stuff. I just like to pick it up for 30 minutes or so and have fun. Hell, you can tell by my preference of characters. :derpytongue2:
