    It's another boring one! I ain't wrote nothin'! :B

It actually feels lately like I've been crawling out of a pit? So maybe there's a light ahead? But it's also blocked by Balatro lol somepony save me D:

The only other thing relevant to this blog is that I've had notes for a vs. post sitting in my notes document for probably the entire month now, what is wrong with me? D:

Fic recs, April 22nd: Jordan179 edition

Once again, though a good bit late, I bring it upon myself to memorialize an author via reviews of their stories. Though this time, it's different, as I had no connection to Jordan179 and only learned of his passing (three years ago this month, coincidentally), from this post

Another post about video games and Youtube and stuff

If I'm going to waste time watching shit on Youtube, the least I can do is tell people about it. :P

Ceave is a crazy Austrian with a love of video games and a head for philosophizing about them. Plus he really, really hates coins, no matter how tasty they may look.

Do you like video games? How about philosophy?

I like one of those things for sure, but no one combines the two better than a Youtuber named InfernalRamblings, a former professional game developer who now creates hour and a half long video essays about the meanings of video games and how they relate to the world today. Here's a few highlights, since this is now basically my only

Fic recs, December 18th · 2:51pm Dec 18th, 2016

I've come down with a really nasty cold. x.x I feel like boiled poop.

The newest reader added to my rotation is Astro-Brony, at long last! Here's the list of stories he's read that I've already reviewed:

A Hell of a Time by Aragon
The Drunken Ramblings of Vinyl Record Scratch by The Autumn Princess
Treating Her Right by Rated Ponystar
University Days by DawnFade
Cupcakes by Sergeant Sprinkles
Rainbow Factory by DawnFade
The Things We Do For… by ObabScribbler
Mistletoe Kisses by TheNewYorkBrony
A Mare Worth Fighting For (Mature) by Pacce
(Also the introduction of Fallout: Equestria, but that doesn't exactly count for the whole story.)
The Eagle Has Landed by cyanblackstone (with Wuten, Illya Leonov, DeftFunk and Scribbler!)
Luna Makes Toast. by Overlord-Flinx
A Candle to the Sun by Moabite
Sunset Shimmer's Naked Mile by MythrilMoth (Mature)
Unlimited Breadsticks* by Chinchillax
That Is a Friend Who Cares by ObabScribbler (with CassyPony and Gina M!)
I Am Demon by Aquaman (with Caitbug and Gina M!)
A Dazzling Christmas by Justice3442

And that's just barely less than the number I haven't read. <.< Won't be long till the next one then, I guess!

Lotsa clopfics today. :B Oh well.

Just What the Nurse Ordered by jayjaejai
Reading by Scarlett Blade
Mature: Sex
Genre: Anthro Clop
Nurse Redheart has a special way to deal with unruly patients.
So, the scenario is perfectly ridiculous, the sex is nonconsensual, and it's not my fetish. But if there's one thing I can say in this story's favor, it's that it makes no bones about what it is: pure, undiluted clop. It is up front about not giving a fuck whether it's believable or not; you get what you pay for, in other words. There's some POV shifting, but if domination, orgasm denial and all the other stuff listed in the description sound like your thing, give it a shot, you'll probably enjoy it.

Scotchtavia by 8_Bit
Reading by Astro-Brony
Reading by Scribbler and TheLostNarrator
Genre: Scratchtavia
As Vinyl carries a drunk Octavia home one night, she learns something she never would have expected about her marefriend.
Here's one I read previously! (And didn't like.) On a second reading, eh, it's okay. The big thing in this story is Vinyl discovering Octavia was born a colt, divulged by the latter after a drunken bender. They go home, Vinyl wrestles with not having known about it previously, reevaluates and then reaffirms her commitment to Octavia, the end. If anything's weird about this, it'd be the combination of the title and drunk ponies shenanigans at the start of what is otherwise a serious and sober piece. Well, that and it takes place in an Equestria more like our own world. Unfortunately, it doesn't leave much of an impression on me, as other than its main idea, it adds precisely nothing to the litany of Scratchtavia fics, and even if it is a complete story, it doesn't feel like one as you read. That said, I'm kind of interested to see how this plays out, so I'll be checking out the sequel.

'Tis Better to Be Vile by Tryst
Reading by Scarlett Blade
Mature: Sex
Genre: BDSM
Now that Luna has returned, it is time for her to take up her old domain, helping ponies through their dreams. Celestia has a suggestion for where to start.
This has a really interesting setup. It's set in season three, before Discord's redemption, but after we found out about Luna's dreamwalking ability, and the opening does something to explain why she hadn't started doing it before then. What lost me is the logical leap from "my friends are dating and I'm jealous and lonely" (dat background Pinkieshy tho) to "I want Luna to teach me about sex" to "it's bondage time!" That Luna's assumptions about Twilight prove to be correct doesn't absolve her from making them in the first place, but I can't argue too heavily against a story with 'dubcon' listed in the description. I can't say this is bad; it may not portray a BDSM relationship getting off the ground in a good way, but it does look into Twilight's psyche and why someone might want this to happen. I just wasn't interested in reading past the first chapter.

Sillen by Fadri, Efimero and John_Wheel
Reading by ShadowOfCygnus
Genre: Just Wow
This is some top-tier crackfic, right here. It's in the style of Swootie Bell, and I'm surprised I can even make that comparison, because this took three guys to write and Protopony is only one guy (unless he is two very short, very squat guys in an Only One Guy costume; have yet to confirm). But yes, this is hilarious and mind-bending in ways that make that fifteenth slot of my Top Fifteen veeeeery unsecure. Not quite, though. I still loved everything about this, and make sure you listen to reading. :3

Table Manners by Grimm
Reading by Scarlett Blade
Mature: Sex
Genre: Sexual Comedy
Bon-Bon's worried about making a good impression with Lyra's parents. But all Lyra cares about is teasing her marefriend.
Okay, but where's the Comedy tag? This was really funny, not to mention a decent piece of erotica in its own right, focusing as it does on emotion more than the act of what's going on. Have to say I love sex goddess Lyra, as well. Have to say, I was waiting for a congratulation scene at the end that never came, but maybe that would have necessitated more of a random tag. Still, if pony sex acts don't turn you off, give this a read, it's lots of fun.

The only one of these I've read is Scotchtavia, which I liked considerably more than I expected to, despite not being a shipper. Of the rest, I might give Sillen a look as it's so short,* but on past form with this type of fic I won't like it nearly as much as you did. Don't really care about the other three.

* Also because I've just read SS&E's .out.of.character. and I need something to wash my brain out with.

4344569 cor, i loved out.of.character. definitely can understand the need to chase it down with something happier, though.

4344650 Yeah, that's what I meant. I was quite impressed by it, but it's not exactly the cheeriest tale in the world. Especially for someone like me, who has Scootaloo among their favourite ponies...

I feel like boiled poop.

I have never had that mental image nor have I ever wanted to. But yet I have had it now, and I am not pleased.

Believe you me, it is the best description for how I feel. D:

4344693 I agree. the ending was a hell of a heartbreaker for me, too.

Wow. I can't believe you made Sillen a thing, after years of being a no-thing. :pinkiegasp:
