Hiatus End · 3:13pm Nov 14th, 2016
Hi all,
So, yeah, apparently I went into my yearly story hibernation. There seems to be every year a 3-4 month run where I just don't feel like writing, though I continue to edit and comment on stories. Sorry if someone did not get a reply they should have on an e-mail or anything, my motivation is all over the place during that period.
I was supposed to get the Empire story complete, but I needed something fresh to come back to. And I have been enjoying my Mauxie series, it's finally getting to the point of viable romance.
My current plans are:
Finish Empire chapter.
Get out first, and possibly second, chapters of the Hopes and Follies sequel.
Mauxie Story.
Not gonna plan out anything past that for now. Since I often work on a three weeks/chapter plan, I am going to enjoy this week, probably get the story board for the next Mauxie planned out and get some D+D stuff written up. Next week, back to completing Empire.
I am not going to meet my 'have ten stories on my profile by the end of the year' goal, but, I think I did pretty well. That one hiatus sucks, but better that than forcing myself and burning out. 
Thanks for the comments and all the little prods, they keep me aware and interested in continuing to write.
I am so ready for Demiprincess Trixie to accidentally save all existence and earn her happy ending. Twilight Stick-in-the-Mud can come too.

I can finally start reading Empire now that the ending is due. I am particularly looking forward for the Hopes sequel, which reminds me, are you still going to rewrite the original like you planned? Absolutely loving the Mauxie series too, so cute.

I am planning on doing a few changes to the original, but, to be honest, I am probably going to at least get the first chapter of the sequel done first to encourage myself. The biggest change I am expecting to make is to replace Twilight's library in the beginning with the castle so the story is past Tirek and I have Twi's castle to work with.

Great to hear your out your hiatus. I wonder how much alteration your going to do for hopes and fillies. Considering the end of the latest season with the return of Trixie and being best friends with Starlight Glimmer. Your current story as it is now, should be considered an alternate universe.
One of the clearest things that is come out for me this season is that Trixie is indeed jealous of Twilight but really has no romantic interest in her at all. The cannon Trixie simple doesn't fit the profile. Still your current story "hopes and fillies" really is one of the best Trixie stories out there even if it can't be possible considered cannon like.
P.S. The Discord and Fluttershy ship has actually got way more merit now with what had happened in end of the latest season.
4315842 Heh, such is the way of fanfiction. Some plot and thoughts become non-cannon, others continue on until disproved. I am sure most people who write about changelings were weeping over the season finale.
It is true that Trixie really just likes to mock Twilight, with no romantic interest involved. But, you could see the opposite of Twilight if you wanted to. She is constantly jealous, or irked by Trixie and Starlight's friendship. It is amusing, but it could easily be a romantic jealousy if you wanted to go that way.
As for alterations, they'll only be a few. The big ones are taking the story part the return of Tirek, that way I can bring it up to speed a little bit. Probably slightly before Starlight's time, or, possibly, have her there, just not 'around', much like people do with Spike.
Also, glad to hear from you again, I was curious on your whereabouts as it's been a bit since I last heard from you.

Real life issues mostly. What get me quiet.
Just for the fun for things if "hopes and fillies" would be rewritten to fit more canonical with the TV- Show. Only two things need to chance for the story to still work. At least in my opinion beside that the tree house needs to be chanced to the crystal palace.
1st Trixie true motive and 2nd Discord reason to help her. While seems strange for later I already told you that after Tirek Discord no longer would risk hurting Fluttershy feelings, he really cares about her as was shown in the season final.
But 1st Trixie, the one thing that is certain about Trixie is that she's a narcissist she graves attention and want to be the best this is where her jealously for Twilight comes from. So it's actually strange she would befriend a Unicorn that would is just as strong as Alicorn Twilight when it comes to magic. Yet it happened because Starlight Glimmer gave Trixie what she desires the most. A true friend, remember what Trixie occupation is, she's a travelling magician. She goes from place to place how can you build a true friendship with that life style. Sure she had fans but I believed it when she said in "No Second Prances." That Starlight was the 1st pony that was her friend. Heck it would completely plausible that Trixie entire Narcissism has come to be because she never had any friends before. Because of her friendship Trixie can overlook Starlight Glimmer is stronger then her, but she can't do that with Twilight. Which she still sees as a rival though not vice versa. The way she act against Twilight in both "No 2nd Prances" and in "To where and Back Again" proves it. Trixie will always be competitive against Twilight. There you have Trixie motive to make the story to work. She wants to prove she can a true and great and powerful pony, what better way to prove it then becoming an Alicorn? Her motivation is prove both herself and world that she's great and powerful.
Now for Discord motives, it's simple actually I noticed in the end Discord made a move towards Trixie in being kind. He was trying to befriend her. Why would he do that you wonder? Afterall with exception of Maud Pie whom has the emotional expression of Rock thus really boring for Discord. Who ever would go into a banter against the Spirit of Chaos itself? Discord is character that relish such attention. He's lets be honest he's a troll. So in his mind he would go love if both his best friend/ love interest and the one that gives him the attention would become immortal would make his life so more excited. That would make Discord act the way you let him act in "Hopes And Fillies."
Of course this is my opinion such a story would work and still stay the characters in cannon, and everyone has different view and intake. Plus rewriting the entire story just to make it fit more cannon would be an awful lot of work. The most of it would be replacing all the romantic moments between Twilight and Trixie. And your original intend was a subtle romance story between the two characters so being realistic I doubt you will ever do that. Still it's fun to hypothesise about the entire concept about altering fimfiction story gem such as yours.
4316027 Heh, you make very good points, and it was my mistake for not clarifying. My goal was to make Hopes and Follies 'closer' to where MLP is. I'd say the closest I could do, without needing to altar the things you mentioned to an extreme, and tiring point, would be when Starlight moved into the castle. Trixie and Starlight being friends would be horribly complicating. Admittedly, and this is with me not looking and seeing, Fluttershy might also be too...brave, I suppose, to match Flutters in the story. Fluttershy has improved by leaps and bounds in her personal self worth and her ability to stand up for herself, so I would have to go back and pinpoint that and see how far I can go without her seeming out of character.
She was still pretty shy and paranoid after the Tirek incident, so I am at least able to update it to that point.
