The New Ending for Honeycrisp · 9:53pm Nov 13th, 2016

Okay, this is long overdue. I have finally posted the promised extra chapter for John Honeycrisp Apple. More discussion after the page break.

I'll be honest, this has been written for months now. I just never could get around to typing it from the pen and paper that it was initially written on and then editing it and uploading it and such. Part of that is because despite the complaints, I still feel that the story that I set out to tell was complete. I apologize for taking as long as I have. I don't know if it could possibly live up to what people would want, but it's here none the less.

What happened in regards to John's identity is made much more explicit as it seems that some people had a hard time figuring it out from what had already been written (that he was Honeycrisp Apple all along who had been kept in a nightmare stasis where he was an incredibly lonely human by the nightmare wisps for a dozen years and that the poison joke he ran through in the flashback caused him to believe he was actually the human in his nightmares). The issues of a man who has had the world age a dozen years around him while he remained in stasis is touched upon, and while he still feels saddened by it, he's not going to let that sadness run his life. The rest of his family, and indeed the entire town (more or less), now knows of him being the real Honeycrisp Apple and that he had had issues with his memory due to poison joke.

I still don't see why some people have a hard time thinking that poison joke could affect a person's mind. We've barely seen any examples of poison joke poisoning except in the one episode (two if you want to count Fluttershy getting the Flutterguy voice for singing in a later episode, but it's the same symptoms). Normally six separate cases of the effect would be enough to give a good idea of what it's capable of, but considering that literally every one of them had different symptoms we can't really say that here. I think it's perfectly reasonable that it could affect a person's mind, too. However, for those of you who have a problem with that, I have offered the potential out of how the nightmare toxin from the wisps combining with the poison joke is what caused that particular "joke" to be played. If that still isn't satisfactory, then oh well.

To preemptively answer a question I'll likely get, I still stand by what I said before in regards to sequels: it's not impossible, but I consider it unlikely in this case. If it does happen, though, it won't be for awhile.

Well for me this was one of those stories where you almost have to read it twice.
And please poison joke affecting the mind? Come one I've read more outlandish things on this site and in fanfiction in general. Why last week a HEI story I am reading had the MC turned into a female because of the plant. And his fire magic was turned into ice magic(yes it's one of those types of HEI stories but it's not horrible like other HEI stories.) She memory loss/altered memory? Ha it's nothing.

But thanks for the heads up I'll go and read it soon.

Canon poison joke has five forms of body alteration ranging from minor (tongue and fur) to major (limb shifting and size change) and the combination of magic and body. Memory is far from a long shot.

I agree that it's far from a long shot, but one person felt strongly enough otherwise that he argued with me for an extended period of time in the comments section. Admittedly, it wasn't just the poison joke affecting memory that he had issues with, but it was part of it.
