So I'm going to be getting a start on my Christmas animation after Halloween has come and gone, and so before Halloween arrives I want to get to work drafting up some ideas for what my Christmas animation will be. However, I've got a few ideas for what I want to do, but I don't know if they would be good enough to be worth anyone's attention. So what I thought I will do is put one or two of the ideas I've had in my head for the past week in this blog post, and see what you guys and gals think of them. If you have any suggestions of your own for improving my ideas please speak up about them.
So here's a couple of ideas I had in mind for the animation...
1 - Animation opens up with a view of Ponyville. A few establishing shots of the streets showing ponies walking around or talking to each other. Cut to the Friendship Castle, where we see Twilight Sparkle in front of a fireplace reading a book. Spike is sleeping close by, and Starlight Glimmer is wrapping a gift.
Cut away to Sugarcube Corner; Mr and Ms Cake are taking a tray of cookies out of the oven. Pinkie Pie pops up out of nowhere with the twins, surprising Mr and Ms Cake. A couple of cookies are thrown into the air, which Pumpkin Cake grabs telekinetically and levitates to herself and Pound Cake. Pinkie Pie, Mr Cake and Ms Cake smile/laugh at this.
Cut away to Rarity's Boutique; Sweetie Belle and Rarity are putting a picture Sweetie has drawn up on the wall - it is a picture of the two standing next to a Christmas tree. They turn to each other and smile.
Cut away to Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo, both of both are sleeping together on a cloud. Tank is sleeping on top of Rainbow Dash. Derpy Hooves pops her head up from another cloud behind them.
Cut away to Sweet Apple Acres; Big Mac and Apple Bloom are putting decorations on a tree. Applejack is putting stockings up on the fireplace. Granny Smith enters the room with a plate of apple fritters, and the Apples gather around the table.
Cut away to Fluttershy's cottage; Fluttershy walks into her living room with a plate holding a cup of hot cocoa and a carrot. She places the plate on a small table, and Angel Bunny pops his head up to snatch the carrot. Fluttershy sits on her couch with Angel Bunny eating his carrot next to her.
Cut away to outside (and then inside) of Ponyville Town Hall ; Mayor Mare and some [new version] changelings are putting decorations up around the place. King Thorax walks up to Mayor Mare's side and smiles at the display - he has a novelty red nose and a large star on top of his head.
Cut to a park bench; Unique is sat down looking sad and alone. A bat pony mare [Midna] appears at his side, and points above Unique to some mistletoe hanging there. As Unique is distracted looking at it, Midna kisses him on the cheek, causing Unique to blush and smile goofily.
Animation ends with the message 'Merry Christmas to everybody!'.
So what do you think then? Does this sound like a decent idea for a Christmas animation, or are there any ideas you guys and gals have that you think I ought to try doing instead? Keep in mind this is my draft animation idea; I don't know if I would actually do this one because it could take quite some time to make, although on the other hand it might not. I don't know. It's just the idea I'll go with if I can't think of something else after Halloween has passed.

4266983 Well in your blog you said you weren't sure if you want to do this idea particularly. As far as I know, story boards are similar to an animatic, except they're not in video format.

So what do we do exactly? Do I tell you what to draw or something? I don't...really know how this works. Until now I've always done my animations alone.

All this talk of storyboards and animation reminds me of Invader Zim. Great, now I'm depressed. I need to go cut myself while watching Invader Zim episodes I have on VHS, be back after hl3 is released.

4267041 I don't know how long the video would be; maybe a minute or something. I'm a bit of a loner when it comes to anything because I've never really had experience with working with other people. Even in university I kept to myself and made little attempt to make friends because I...don't understand people a lot.

It sounds quite nice, just remember to try to add some music or other audio to it.
It's basically a bunch of clips of some ponies celebrating Christmas. Which is cool.
