That Followup Blog That I Said I Would Do But Never Did... Until Now · 2:45am Oct 12th, 2016
Okay, so back when More than Meets the Ear wrapped up I said I would shortly be posting a followup blog, right?
... Yeah, we all know that didn't happen. Real life got in the way, yadda yadda; I'll spare you all the details. Nobody cares about my personal life (sometimes not even me, ).
So!
That was a hell of a thing, wasn't it?
I don't mean that in the sense that it was really good--though a lot of people sure seemed to like it--but more in a sense that something I threw together in about a day in response to an offhand comment by Bookish Delight (who is kinda/sorta back now; go swarm her with hugz! ) ended up turning into a fairly popular story that was exceedingly fun to write. Big thanks to everyone who liked, faved, and commented; I'm glad so many people enjoyed my somewhat off-the-cuff mashup,
Now, let's get down to brass tacks... dat ending. You know and I know that it's just begging for a sequel. The whole thing with Lemon and her headphones being a little Decepticon had been kicking around in my head since literally day one, and there was no way I was going to pass up the chance to use it.
That said, I named that epilogue the way I did for a reason... I knew everyone was going to love the epilogue itself, but there's a good chance you'd all hate me afterwards, because while it teases like Hell for a sequel, I'm going to be straight-up honest and say that I don't know if I will ever write it.
I imagine that I will soon know *exactly* how this feels...
I could list a bunch of reasons why, but it all boils down to lack of time. Had I the limitless free time I've always coveted, I'd love to whip out the next story in this series, which would involve almost completely re-writing the events of Friendship Games, and while I'm pretty sure I could at least pull it off, re-writing canon is something I usually avoid unless I'm going full AU. It's an endeavor that I'd rather shelve for now than start and end up leaving by the wayside. Crap; I've still got older fics that I need to go back and finish... and yes, I honestly do want to go back and finish them (You hear me, Taco Quest? Your days of running wild with that incomplete tag are numbered! NUMBERED, I SAY! ).
Suffice it to say I don't want to get anyone's hopes up waiting for a sequel that may never come. If there are any writers out there who really, really want to see more stories told in this setting and with these characters, I welcome them to take the reins and create their own. I'll volunteer as much or as little input/advice as you like; the minimum I ask is that you let me know when you post it so I can read it too,
Also, for those who mentioned it, I did finally start watching Transformers Prime and holy shit were you guys right about Blackbolt/Flash being a lot like Arcee/Jack. I'd love to say something along the lines of 'great minds think alike', but I don't think I'm that cool. My initial thought process for their dynamic was something along the lines of 'What if Sam Witwicky had an Autobot partner who didn't put up with any of his shit?' I also wanted Blackbolt to sorta be the 'star' of the story, and since we're crossing with EQG/MLP it felt fitting that she be a 'she', and not a 'he'. Her personality started off a little bit more like Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail, but eventually morphed into the slightly more comfortable persona that ended up on the page... and that was sorta that,
Anyway... this blog is already long enough, so I'll just leave it by thanking everyone once again for coming along with me on this fun little ride; I'm happy so many people enjoyed it and I hope that someday I'll find the time to come back and treat you all to the next installment (which may or may not have a planned scene dedicated to 'The Touch' by Stan Bush, )
Stay frosty!
*reaches mid-blog picture*Catch it, Sonata! Catch it with your teeth!
Sequel or no sequel, I still enjoyed the ride so far.

Thanks, broheim,
Well, it's certainly been enjoyable, and I do understand the issues of time. Still, I hope to see you come back to this story someday and continue it.
In the meantime, I'll reread it frequently and enjoy it. And I'll also look at a few of your other stories.
While I will say that I'm one of those people who would love to see a sequel, that's a perfectly good reason to be hesitant about it. I would be lying if I said it was my favorite out of the stories you've written, but it was still a lot of fun and I'm very glad you wrote it. I'm definitely planning on going through it again sometime, sequel or otherwise.
It's going to have Transformers, and The Touch is one of the things most remembered about the G1 movie other than Weird Al and Unicron. You're goddamn right it will.
Entirely understandable. I know I have more ideas bouncing about my head than I have time to realize them. Still, here's hoping enough free moments line up in the future that you'll be able to expand on this setting.
