Some awesome new art from Backlash91!
To start with, we have Whisper Winds, totally an earth pony and more than a little lost and confused by the world she finds herself in. Subdued in coloration, but sleek, pretty, and well-groomed. A Wasteland beauty that doesn't have the first clue about the Wasteland.
And then we have the real Whisper, the clever little changeling Infiltrator. I love the difference in body language and expressions between the two. She's gone through quite the change, from the lone Infiltrator who was desperately scrambling for survival in a dangerous land, to a well-armed and armored member of a fairly capable group. Even if, well, she's still a pretty poor shot.
Next up is Whisper's first friend in the Wasteland, Starlight. Nimble, friendly, playful, and packing a very serious gun!
After that comes Dusty. He's the oldest and most experienced of the group, and a little worn by his time out in the Wasteland. He also has the most complete and practical loadout of the group, refined and adjusted from years of experience.
Then the final member of their group, Sickle. Holy crap does that armor look badass. As you can see, she's gotten into quite a few fights in her time, enough that she's gotten pretty seriously messed up even with the armor. Not that she cares, healing potions are literally magic, and scars make for great stories.
One thing to keep in mind with her is just how huge she is. Think like Trouble Shoes; the shoulders of a mare like Applejack were about even with the underside of his chest, and a fairly big stallion like Big Mac would stand with the top of his head about even with Trouble Shoe's shoulders. That's about how big Sickle is. Whisper is probably about eye-level with that bullet-scar on Sickle's chest, if that. Now just imagine the sight of something that big and that armored barreling down on you. Sickle is scary.
So yeah, some awesome art of the main cast. Go give Backlash91 some love!
looks really good. There's something about the art style that is just bugging me though. Especially that first one of changeling whisper. I have absolutely no idea why though.
4201239 AHAHAHAAH! XD you...you AHAHH!......"bugging you"......you fiend. you pun wielding fiend!
This is amazing!
4201473 believe it or not, that wasn't intentional.
4201523 ah well....um...then...I am sorry my art style is....weird?
4201529 you don't have to apologize for it. It's not bad, just different than what I usually see. There's still something that I can't quite put my finger on but it's mostly a combination of more realistic horse proportions and the contour lines. For example, there's a distinction between the front pastern and hoof, which isn't present in the show.
Also changelings don't have eyelashes and whispers fangs are really small. That's why whisper really stood out to me.
You are a good artist and it's way better than anything I could do. Like I said, it's just a little different than what I'm used to.
If land sharks existed, and thus had faces, they would look like Sickle's face in that picture.
Damn is Sickle one buff pony, and as pretty as a car wreck. Which is perfect!
Sickle is damn cool.
Cool pictures, I really like them, though the combination of more realistic and cartoony styles doesn't mesh so well in Sickle's case, she just feels off. Maybe it's the massive muscle mass combined with pony proportions.
As for Whisper, I like her. She seems a bit more masculine in changeling form, maybe it's the proportionately smaller head. Also, if she's covered in chitin, it shouldn't be so smooth, chitin is less flexible than skin. There should be visible plating edges around joints and on parts that bend, like the torso. I know that in the show they don't show it, but these are drawn more realistically, so I thought that'd fit.
FINALLY! I got some pictures to help me in the visualization part.
