BronyCon 2016 - Signing Off · 5:52am Jul 11th, 2016

I'm going to sleep now. Tomorrow, I get to return home.

It was nice meeting everyone. Folks here were really friendly, and I got to see a lot of very smart people say some very smart things. I got to talk with people, not just about ponies, but about all sorts of things. We were all among friends, and it was an enjoyable experience, apart from the odd bit of awkwardness.

I joined the Evil League of Evil in its invasion of a local food court.

I blamed one of Bad Horse's lesser minions for mislaying our plans for commandeering visiting the USS Constellation.

I got kidnapped by a ferret.

Twice.

I posed for a picture with the fanfiction writer with the most followers, GM Berrow, then watched as people frantically searched their cameras for proof that it happened.

I discussed the politics of nuclear disarmament.

I playtested Horizon's Purple Prose card game, a game about constructing a dirty story using cards containing Victorian style purple prose.

I got more hugs than I have gotten in the last ten years in three days.

I got reseated twice at a restaurant.

I was bribed.

I got to meet a huge number of folks for the first time, both FIMFiction authors like Horizon, Bad Horse, bookplayer, GAPJaxie, Wanderer D, as well as artists, such as White Diamonds Ltd.

I got to meet a bunch of folks I didn't even know existed.

I got to realize that I had a huge blind spot and needed to read Captain Chrysallid's stories.

I listened to multiple arguments about the greater societal implications of Ancient Greek and medieval literature.

I attended a panel which insulted Plato.

I accidentally derailed the Romance writing RariJack is totally the best ship panel.

I had people come up to me afterwards and tell me that the panel was great, even though I was worried about how well it went.

I had people ask me to not recommend their stories, because they just wanted a review.

I had many people recognize me who I didn't even recognize, my heart grew so many sizes that Bad Horse threatened to kick me out of the League unless I kicked some puppies.

I had so many experiences that I haven't even listed half the ones I remember, and will probably have to be reminded of more.

Thank you to everyone who said hello to me, smiled at me, pointed and said "You!", or noted that in real life, I am not such a horrifying monster after all.

And thanks to everyone who made all this possible, including the support of viewers like you. Even if you didn't go to BronyCon, the fact that you love the show so much makes all this possible. Thank you.

Sorry for the blog post spam. Just trying to avoid putting it all in one unfathomably huge and unnavigable post.

Sounds like you had a good time :pinkiehappy: I can hear the friendship radiating from this post! see you in the future, TD!

It was nice meeting you!

I wouldn't call it a bribe, it was more like. . . .

okay, it was a bribe.

I got to meet a bunch of folks I didn't even know existed.

I see what you did there. :trixieshiftright:

Yay I get to be one of the people going YOU! over and over.

Good seeing you again, safe journey home!

It's a good thing Captain Chrysallid has a lot of interesting and thought-provoking things to say, because my god can that man filibuster, as I learned watching the Advanced Writing Q&A. :pinkiegasp:

What was the bribe for? To do something or not to do something? You've got me curious now... .

I actually got multiple bribes, all to do some things. :trixieshiftright:

This answer does not help with my curiosity at all and you know it!

Don't worry, I'll be sure to say something about it when they come to fruition. :duck:

Great to meet you finally!

And at some point in the nebulous future when I have more time to work on games instead of fics, I'll have to try to collar you re your suggestions on Purple Prose's wordlist. Strengthening the cards and raising the quality of the weaker ones will definitely solidify the game overall.

Yeah, it was good to meet you, too!

And yes, definitely corner me on that at some point.
