WHARRGARBLWHAR!!!!!!
So I'm a filthy liar. Because it totally shot right past 40000 words.
Well it's not done yet, but it's REALLY close to being done. I only have to write two more events within the scene, both of which are very short, before it is completed.
right now it's sitting at 43,600 words and by the time it's done im assuming it will be about 46,000 making it the longest chapter in the story since chapter 100 which was just barely over 40,000. I'm being really strict about keeping my chapter mapping together up through the end of the third arc (chapter 140) so i would expect most of the chapters leading up through it to be longer than usual, but once part 4 begins you can expect the average chapter length to return to 10k-20k words. I'd rather not make it a habit to write ridiculously long chapters because i know it can kill interest for some folks, so i just wanted to reassure that this isn't going to become a trend.
As for release of the chapter... yes, the chapter is less than an hour of typing away from being completed, but please be wary that the longer the chapter, the longer it takes to proofread and edit. Not only will it take me and my absurdly slow reading speed a few days to get through the whole thing, we also must be wary that Kestrel and Lucky also have to go through it too. So please be patient, we need time to make sure that the chapter's presentation is of the highest quality we can manage. (You're basically getting the content of 4ish chapters combined here, so the extra wait will yield extra reward 
)
In the mean time i may try to get an art blog out once im done proofreading, since i will probably have a little bit of time to spare while the editors are working their magic.

i was browsing derpibooru for a cute pic of Dash or Spitfire to use, but when i saw that two pages in there was no other choice.
Having read through the entire storyline that this particular story is part of, I can say I'm glad I finally buckled down and did it! Granted, I'm not fully caught up on Piercing the Heavens, but it's not like I've only read the first few chapters! ... Very excited to see what happens once I resume reading!

Someone seems to know Calm much too well...
I have seen this expression before and I have never been able to wrap my head around it. I mean you just said that this chapter is longer than chapter 100, making it the longest chapter in the entire wonderverse and I think it has a shot at being in the top 10 longest chapter in fimfiction.
So why on earth would one say that it is the longest chapter since something when one could just say it's the longest chapter in the story.
That's not really true. Not counting the last 3 chapter (because their length is influenced by your resolution to finish part 3 by chapter 140) the average length of your ten most recent chapter is ~15000 so this chapter equals to three other.
There is 3 possible ways to solve this sticky situation.
1. Ignore this annoying-ass kid who likes nit-picking unimportant technical details especially if they have anything to do with numbers. (wisest solution)
2. Edit your blog. (boring solution)
3. Make this chapter 60k long and find a new editor because I have feeling kestrel would immediately resign if you told him this. (recommended solution)
Ugh....here I am looking for fanfictions of other things, which usually aren't more than 10k words IF I'm lucky, and you're popping out near 50k word chapters? I wish other people had the same stick in the ass threathening to tear up your insides as you do (because why else would you write so much?), god dammit.
Become a novelist already. You clearly have the speed and dedication to be one.

I get the editing bit dude- i'm not a slow reader but edits take FOREVER-- i had to go through sixteen chapters yesterday and my brain, arms, and hands still hurts from the typing, movement, and improvement thinking.

If the chapter, by some crazed miracle, ends up being released by Wednesday, I'm gonna flip my shit, 'cause the 13th is my birthday.
I keep on trying to find, I guess you call them "openings", to comment on the past 20+ chapters, but shit just keeps on coming, and I'm left too dumbfounded, frustrated, and braindead to say anything because seriously... I can't handle my life when it comes to this story.
So, I can basically say goodbye to trying to explain my incoherent thoughts on this next beast. 
Seriously, dude, this next chapter alone will be larger than any other story I've ever come up with, you are insane (but I love you anyway 
). Knowing me I'm gonna fly through it within 10 minutes... and possibly scream into my pillow several hundred times, so make it 20 minutes. 
I'M HYPED!!!!! Take your time, I'm looking forward to reading the beast
