Not having a new episode of MLP to watch bringing you down? Well, I have just the thing to cheer you up; info about all the exciting changes coming to Cadance and the Art of Diplomacy for Season 2 (and a ~4,000 word sneak peak for Episode 0 down at the bottom of this post)! But, before we get into that, let's dive right in and look at a preview of what you can expect from our illustrious Princess in the brand new season...
*TL;DR at the bottom*
Guided by the cunning diplomatic wit of their leaders, the Crystal Empire is on the road to quickly becoming one of the largest economic powerhouses in the world. With a booming population and an ever-expanding pool of diverse experts at their hooves, the Crystal Princess Mi Amore Cadenza and her husband Prince Shining Armor have created an empire ready to stake their claim on the world's stage.
Yet, with great power comes even greater problems. Word of the Crystal Empire's prosperity has spread across the vast expanses of Equestria and past the seas to foreign lands abroad. Leaders from around the world turn their gaze towards the up and coming Empire, some looking to strike up fair and honest deals with the Crystal ponies of the north while others stalk in the shadows and bide their time for more nefarious purposes.
However, the latest challenge for the Empire comes not from a far away land, but from their pony brethren to the south. With the invasion of Canterlot still fresh in their minds, much of the Equestrian populace sees the taking in of Chrysalis's hive of changelings by the Crystal Empire as a bad sign for the future of both nations. With rumors ranging from Chrysalis controlling the Empire through the mind-controlled royal couple to Cadance building an army of changelings to take Equestria for herself running rampant, Celestia calls for a summit between the Princesses of Equestria and the Crystal Princess in order to restore faith between the two nations...
So, with a not-so last minute surge in votes, Cadance x Celestia x Luna x Twilight has been chosen to be Episode 1 for Cadance and the Art of Diplomacy Season 2! Expect to hear news about it eventually (after a short, Episode 0 chapter to start things off, more on that later). But first, back to the changes I mentioned earlier!
*New Pairing Options*
With new agents to help them in the field of diplomacy, Cadance no longer has to be the one to meet with foreign dignitaries. Instead of Cadance, pairings can be submitted that include at least one of the following:
Shining Armor
Chrysalis
The Crystal Mountain Diamond Dogs (Snow, Roxy, Steel, Lassie)
The Griffon Fliers (Jade, Jazz, Helios, Ironfeather, Dick)So, feel like Celestia should look over the trade deals between Equestria and the Crystal Empire with the royal couple's personal team of griffon fliers (leading to a "group diplomacy session" between one Alicorn and five griffon studs)? Perhaps Luna visits the Empire to inspect one of the changeling's many Love Shacks with her Night Guard and winds up getting a "personal tour" from Chrysalis
herself? Maybe Twilight and her friends, in a gesture of good will, head up to the Empire during the Diamond Dog Days celebration and "party" underneath the Empire 'till the sun comes up? All these (and more!) are possible episodes for the next season of Cadance and the Art of Diplomacy! Which leads me to...
*Arcs*
Just like last season with Bonus Chapters, Season 2 will have multiple episodes dedicated to each nation-pairing that gets chosen. This season, however, these "arcs" consist of three episodes rather than two and will be thought up and voted upon by you, the reader. So, after the meeting between Cadance and the four Equestrian Princesses, two more episodes will be added to make up the "Equestrian Arc" for the season, which means it's time for you guys/gals to start thinking up more Crystal Empire / Equestria pairings to vote on down the road! Speaking of voting...
*New Voting Process*
A new season means a new way for you, the reader, to help shape the future of the series. Instead of being hosted on FiMFiction, voting will now be done on a Google Docs form and, instead of being all clumped together, the voting process will now be spread out into four different steps:
1) Submit ideas
2) Vote on ideas (Vote for up to 3 ideas)
3) Vote on the top 3 ideas from step 2 (Vote once)
4) OC submissions and story-line questionnaires (more on this below!)Participating in any one of these steps will grant you access to a sneak peek for the chapter currently being written, with the size of the sneak peek increasing for each subsequent step! After step 4, I'll post a MLP trivia question that, if enough people get it right, will also increase the size of the sneak peek, giving you more of that "diplomacy" action that you so obviously crave! All you have to do is participate and the keys to a world of diplomacy shall be yours!
Since the first three steps are already finished for Episode 1, expect to see something on Step 4 soon!
*OC Inserts*
The Crystal Empire needs more guards to help defend their ever-growing populace. They need you!
After an idea has been chosen and I have a rough idea about what is going to happen in the chapter, I'll make a form where you can submit a description of your OC(s) and have a chance for them to be a minor character (usually guards and/or servants) in the story. These parts could be as small as a short description about a pony that Cadance walks by to as large as a griffon OC that gets to join in on the fun. OCs of *most* kinds will be accepted (The Crystal Empire currently has Ponies, Crystal Ponies, Griffons and Diamond Dogs, so only really OCs of those races. Hopefully that's enough variety!). Just, you know, none of those dark, edgy and overpowered Alicorns...
*Story Questionnaires*
To give you guys/gals even more control over the story, I'll try to create polls for (at least) each arc of the story. These polls will either shape a single episode or transform the entire world of CAD with a larger change. The first one of these will be up soon-ish and pertains to Princess Cadance herself!
*TL;DR*
* Episode 1 will be Cadance x the four princesses of Equestria
* Instead of Cadance, ideas can be submitted using Shining Armor, Chrysalis, or the Diamond Dogs/Griffon Fliers that have joined the Empire.
* Instead of two episodes per race-pairing, there are now three episode arcs. So, counting this, there will be two more episodes about the Crystal Empire "meeting" with Equestria
* Voting will now take place on a Google Docs form rather than in the comment section and is now split up into four different parts; Submit Ideas, Choose Top 3 Ideas, Choose Top Idea and Questionnaire + OC Submissions.
* Each episode will have slots for your OCs to join in on the fun, usually in a minor role as a guard in the Empire.
* Questionnaires will be made for each arc in the story where you can shape the future of the series.
* And, finally...

Will the left over suggestions from season 1 be carried over to season 2?
4031863 No, but you can always just resubmit them when the time comes. The next two episodes (after Cadance x Celestia x Luna x Twilight) are going to be Equestria-centric though, so if the one you're thinking of isn't somepony from the Crystal Empire "debating" with somepony from Equestria then you'll have to wait 'till after those. And if you've read anything CAD-related, you know that by debating I don't really mean debating...
Has Cadance given birth yet?
4033481 That'll actually be part of the very first Story Questionnaire, which is: "How much of a time gap was there between Season 1 of CAD and Season 2?" So, if you guys/gals decide to keep the time gap small, Cadance would still be pregnant (and very much so, I'd assume). Plus, the world of Equestria itself would still be in-line with the show. A longer time gap (I'll probably have the option to go up to 5 years) means that, not only is Cadance not pregnant, Flurry Heart has past her age in the show and who knows what has happened to the rest of the characters. Heck, to 4031340's point, a long time gap could mean Spike and Ember are a couple and rule the dragons together (prompting a little 2v2 diplomacy session between them and Cadanace + Shining)!
