Things are coming down to the wire in the land of shrinking intestines.
I would like to make a request, if possible...
Any artists out there... specifically those who are skilled in making detailed fantastical landscapes, preferably 2d art (although I'll be willing to check out skilled 3d artists, if necessary), please PM me if you would like to discuss the possibility of drawing something for me in the not-too-distant future. I have a Paypal account and would gladly pursue means of both paying and referring you in the event that you're willing to make something based on the requested parameters. Trust me, it's something that a lot of marsupials will be seeing on a daily basis.
So, yeah. If you happen to be good at drawing landscapes (or photoshopping landscapes together to make "new" landscapes, even) and would like to assist in visualizing something of lemuriffic nature, then PM me so we can have further discussions. Obviously, assuming I get more than one person contacting me, this will ultimately end up with me choosing one artist, but I'll do my best to communicate with everyone who contacts me.

Now, unto completely and absolutely unrelated news, the latest chapter(s) of Utaan is being worked on... slowly but surely. I can only apologize for the delay so much. This is the most important chapter of anything that I've written in a long while, with nearly 400+ chapters of foreshadowing and setup. So, yeah... butterflies in the spleen. But it's getting there. I'm about 7k words into the mess, and I suspect it'll be another 7k words before I have something worthy of being uploaded. I'm suspecting it'll be another double chapter post. After this hump, there's the climax to the dayum fic... and then it'll be onto Book 9. Nietzsche help us all.

damn, if it had been highly detailed ponies, humans or even short animations I would have volunteered but landscapes i've never been very good at. Best of luck finding someone!
If you're looking for photorealism like the others I can't help, but if something a bit more surreal would fit the dark side better, my wife is a fabulous painter and might be interested. I can talk to her about it and get back to you if that's something that would work.
My style might not be what you're looking for, but I may volunteer myself anyway since landscapes are more or less my forte (although i'm not any where near close to a professional). If I do, I'll send you a PM sometime tonight after I get this whole graduation and moving schtick over with.
Sounds like a standard nature photo won't cut it for the cover of book nine.
Addendum: totally looking forward to seeing your vision for the dark side, whoever ends up doing it. For my part, I've always kinda imagined it like a dark and shadowy version of one of the crazy landscapes in Utah. If it were just a matter of color-correcting something like that I'd totally take a shot at it, but I'm guessing you're looking for even more fantastical.
Well, I've never drawn landscapes, so I'd be worried about stepping up to the plate.
I can recommend you to asking AssassinMonkey or viwrastupr. They're both very detailed artists and I don't think they'd have an issue with landscapes.
This is oddly exciting to read about, and I'm not even reading that series.
While i am terrible at drawing almost anything, i would suggest taking a look at Derpibooru, someone brought up the "scenery porn" tag and there are some really impressive works tagged, stuff like this or that, so if you can't find someone here, you might look for something promising there and stalk them back to their artist (usually da) page using the source links.
