FINISH HIM! · 2:53am Apr 1st, 2016
Or, uh, FINISH IT. Or ... you get the idea.
I've wrapped up BY THE BLACK AXE OF NIGHTMARE MOON! hope you enjoyed it.
Again, I'm trying to get back into the swing of writing regularly. It's not quite the accomplishment Seven Girls, Nine Hundred Forty Three Miles, and One Minivan was, but I'm still fairly proud of the story. Especially since the whole thing was based on a silly idea I had on a road trip a few days ago. I just kind of made stuff up as I went along, and, well ... there you go. Came out a little shorter than my last Equestria Girls fic, but then again, I didn't work any shipping into this one, either.
I stumbled across a couple of challenges in the process, too. For example, I hadn't realized how much of a pain it would be to type out dialogue between two characters "ONE OF WHOM WHO SPEAKS IN ALL CAPS ITALICS," and the other "In a slightly more understated bold." That's what I get for playing around with gimmicks.
(This said, I wouldn't give those particular gimmicks up without getting into a knife-fight).
The other big challenge I ran into in the conclusion was the simple matter of trying to capture the feel of live music in just the limits of text. Personally, I love seeing live music, but it's really hard to capture the whole experience of a really good show in just a couple of lines. Probably doesn't help that I'm usually kicking back more than a few beers every time I catch a show, but I digress.
And finally, for the record, I've never played Brutal Legend. Though now that I've written this story, I think I may have to. Will need to finish Valkyria Chronicles first, though.
Hope you guys have enjoyed the ride! I honestly have no idea what I'll be working on next. Then again, I'm also going to be on a road trip for the next two weeks or so, so that'll probably give me plenty of time to think of something new and silly.
About that...
Could always go for the Hat Trick with a proper SunLight :P Just sayin'.
Here's to you, Toki and Will
Shred forever deep within hell
The last and final track is the most brutal of them all. NOTHING.
Really enjoyed it. It was a good read during breaks between classes.
Trips are great for stories, writing in general--that's older than feudalism! (Horace, the "carpe diem" guy, had a long narrative poem about a trip he and Virgil and their friends took to the countryside.)
