Blog #14: Winter's End

It's over! I don't know what that does, but it sure does something. My winter hasn't the best to be honest. But it wasn't the worst one either. I did write, at times, and stuff, and I passed my classes.

One thing I definitely did is getting two short stories out in the past two months. A Place to Rest is a SoL fluff oneshot that I mostly did for the atmosphere (it's the very same Rarijack story I talked about in blogs #2 and #3, that's how old it is). Creatura Somnii is the other one, a kind of weird conspiracy story around Celestia. Frankly, those are not the stories I care about the most - it's nice to try some things out, but I've never felt like a shortstory person anyway.

What I really care about is the longer stuff, like the Shining Armor story I started writing in November and which since December has been crawling up in wordcount quite irregularly between exams and depression. Except that I haven't written a word on it for about a month and a half. If it weren't for the two short stories I released I would feel bad about that, but I did those and also a little bit on my side project so I got that going for me.

Since I'm out of the story anyway, I thought, why not switch things up and do the revision that is due for my Princest story, so I can publish it at some point. About time I get that out of the way, really. And so, after my last exam in two days, that's what I'll presumably be doing.

Fanfiction of the Month
Just yesterday I picked this one up from my to-read list, and it blew me away: Fluttershy's Secret Kissing Story by Ara, a story which is fairly unconventional and not at all what you would assume it is from the title. I would say it's an odd beauty that you will either love or hate. I any case, I love the style and will from now on recommend it to any writer who struggles with a certain awkwardness in their kissing scenes. Read this, it might help.

Before I wrap this up, just on a side note, I probably won't be doing these blog posts as regularly anymore as I had originally intended. It's not as if they are read by, assumably, anyone, they're more of a diary that I lay out for everyone who's interested in it. Although I would sure hope I had the chance to plug my choices for Fanfiction of the Month to more people, especially those fics that are underrated.

Anyway, winter is over now. I didn't get to walk through the snow this year, due to lack of both time and snow (at least here in good ol' germany) which is sad. But I didn't freeze to death, so that's good. I don't know if spring will be a better time, but here's hoping.
