Know Your Mare is old. And I mean OLD. I don't run statistics or check anything like that; but I would put a bet that it is the longest running series on this site. Not the oldest story, but the story that has survived and updated itself endlessly over its existence. I'm sure someone will show an example against it, but if anything it is at least ONE of the longest running.
It has had its fair share of fan art. There are videos dedicated to it. Even some people went on to write stories inspired by it. I would link to all of these things, but this is just a quick bit I'm putting up. Maybe some day I'll compile a full list of everything I know about. The fact is, Know Your Mare is pretty big in its own right. It was something special. Once or twice, I tried to end it. But, it always found a way back.
But... This time around, it's nearing its end. Soon, around this year's anniversary of its submission to this site, we will be entering its final stages. New characters may still come out over the years, and maybe I'll find a way to continue the spirit of Know Your Mare. But, as of right now, this year's anniversary will start to mark the end of the series.
And there is only one way to end the series...

Honestly, I'm conflicted. I bloody love this series, but I know it's pretty unfair to ask you to do it indefinitely. I'll miss it, but I'll survive. long as you promise to keep writing silly stories.
