Progress Report 09 January 2015 - Chapter Posted! · 12:05am Jan 10th, 2016
Well, this year is starting out on a down note. Not only is my back worse, but my grandmother may not have long to live. Her collarbone was fractured by a tumour of unknown type. Chemotherapy isn’t an option at her age, so we don’t really know what’s going to happen.
I will be, once again, visiting the US soon. Hopefully my back is better by then.
Writing is going slowly as of late, but some progress is being made. The next chapter has seen a lot of editing already, so the wait shouldn’t be too long.
I’ve been thinking of milestone goals on Patreon lately, like more Encyclopedia entries or maybe “Cv tries a new recipe” blogs. Maybe even a “Cv forces himself to watch Season 4” series if it gets really high. What do you guys think? Viable idea?
Also, very soon I’ll be starting a professional blog of my own. Unlike Rites, where I try to stay mostly neutral in terms of left vs right, this blog is going to be where I voice my politics loud and clear. I’ll also be talking about technology, news, and futurism. (Note: I’m an unabashed liberal, in case you were wondering.) I won’t bring up this new blog much here on FimFic. There will be a url link somewhere, mind you, but otherwise I’m going to try to keep my politics on that blog and away from here.* You guys come for ponies, not my politics. But, when it is started, I’ll bring it up once to let people know where it is if you’re interested.
I’m maybe 1/4 to 1/3 through writing mission seven. It’s slow going, and this is a big one that I haven’t daydreamed completely to death yet. Thus, it’s proving quite tricky. My wrist has also been acting up lately, which isn’t good. Might have to try using the other hand for a while.
Until next blog!

*I delve into politics a lot in Rites, really, but it’s at a meta level. It’s more about nuts and bolts and how perception affects political support. There will be some more specific stuff at times, but if things go as planned those examples are going to be rather extreme and tangential and not really tie in to hot button issues.
I am interested. Though you and I may not agree on several things, (though I also suspect that there are various topics that you and I would agree on quite closely) I feel that you and I will have many enjoyable debates on numerous topics.
Sounds like an excellent idea, though I would not recommend Season 4 until you actually feel that you're ready for it.
Oh, sorry to hear about the health issues of you and your family; good luck.
Regarding politics in Rites, I'd not necessarily expect that to mirror your real-world political views anyway. It is, after all, one thing to be opposed to a theocratic monarchy when the god-king appears to be just an ordinary human in a fancy hat; when the goddess-princess has a thousand years of benevolent rule on her record, has immense magical power, and can empirically demonstrate her control over the movement of celestial bodies, well, it might be stranger if that didn't change things.
