I wish you all a Merry Christmas[1], a happy solstice, an empirical Newtonmas, and a joyous Kwanzaa. I also wish you happiness in any other holidays—including fictional ones, ones from alternate eventualities, and those as yet undreamed of.
[1] Dear Russian readers[2] (I know I have some, my spyware is all-seeing and far-reac... okay, you guys translated most of my stories) I have dispatched a suitably cheerful greeting into the future, a little under two weeks hence, in fact. Await for it there, and if you can, send back some lottery numbers or something.
[2] Also applies to certain Armenians, Georgians, Ukrainians, Macedonians, Moldavians, Montenegrins, and Serbs, I'm told. Also: time-travelers.
Merry Solstice, Boss! Seems that the stars were wrong for another year here so plenty of time to write before dread Cthulhu shows up.

(P.P.S--Walt Kelly, the artist who drew Pogo Possum, got his start as an animator for Walt Disney studios and worked on Pinocchio. Throughout his subsequent career as a syndicated cartoonist he kept twitting his erstwhile employer with references to that movie--"Jiminy Crispness" = "Merry Christmas" x "Jiminy Cricket")

Still around. For some reason this winter has been making me want to curl up and hibernate thought it but I just got back from travelling seeing family and friends, and that normally makes me feel better. Country may be sinking though; up to a metre of rainfall fell in some places during December. I blame that they started naming storms, so now the storms feel they need to live up to their hype.
My New Year's resolution is to start applying for a new job in the north as I'm pretty sick of living so far from most people I'm friends with. Other than that, I don't think I have much in the way of news.
