If you work near a bread slicer...

... be sure to wear cut-resistant gloves. Slicing your finger open on rapidly-moving blades is not a fun experience, nor is cleaning the wound afterwords. Safety regulations are there for a reason! I'm lucky that I still have an intact finger, and that it'll be healed up fully within a month, but that's something I hope none of you ever have to experience.

    Updates and a question

Hi everyone. Figured I'd post a little update about what's happening in case anyone's still following me. With the assistance and advice of resident Navy sailor Kaipony, I've been working for several months now on an a three-book, alternate-history World War Two naval saga that pits Celestia and Equestria against Nightmare Moon and her allies. But unlike my previous stories, which were written,

If you could erase one MLP character from existance, who would it be?

I'd get rid of Button Mash. Not because I have anything against him, but because it would spare us all from the seemingly countless incest stories he's involved in. I know every fandom has it's seeder, unsavory sides, but good God, why are so many people into stories of a grade-school child having sex with his mom, or her wanting to have sex with him? Knowing that his (non-canon) mother

Seriously, Apple? · 6:41am Dec 12th, 2015

One thing I like to do with all my online stories, whether on fimfiction or elsewhere, is to finish them with a song or piece of music that fits the mood and feel of the story's conclusion. Finding one for "Nightfall," however, has been surprisingly difficult due to how the story ends, but tonight I found one that's not only a strong candidate, but also a song from my favorite artist that I never heard about before. Needless to say, I instantly hopped on iTunes in the hopes of buying a copy for myself... only to learn that it's nowhere to be found. Baffled, I hunted around on the internet and learned that, for some bizarre reason, the song is only available for purchase in Europe, meaning that, outside of spending absurd amounts of money to import a CD to listen to one song, it's legally impossible for me to buy a copy. And to pour salt into a wound, the song can be bought on iTunes Europe, but not iTunes USA, and is not cross-compatible.

Seriously, Apple? Making it impossible for your customers to buy a song they want is a terrible business practice, and only serves to infuriate said customers. There's no doubt some pathetic legal mumbo-jumbo involved and region issues which makes it even worse for the average fan who just wants to listen to music, but can't understand why the law is screwing them over.

Sounds more like it was the artists decision than Apple.

lol just rip from the internet

Just get it from a file sharing site or something. Or torrent it if you really need to. I don't download music or movies myself, because I stream things normally, but it isn't hard to download things.

I flippin' hate when music labels pull this shit.

Seriously $MUSIC_LABEL?!
:facehoof:

I am trying to stay on the straight and narrow, but it seems you are doing everything in your power to make it as difficult as possible. JUST SHUT UP AND TAKE MY BLOODY MONEY! The "filthy freetard pirates" do not have to put up with your artificial barriers; why should I, a potential paying customer, be so inconvenienced? Not helping your case here $MUSIC_LABEL... Clueless eejits the lot of them...

Just out of curiosity, what song were you trying to purchase?

FYI, you almost gave me a heart attack.
I now question my choice in usernames.

Couldn't you use a European Proxy or VPN to create an account to use Europe ITunes? If it's in a different format, then you could always convert it.

"In general, we think there is a fundamental misconception about piracy. Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem. For example, if a pirate offers a product anywhere in the world, 24 x 7, purchasable from the convenience of your personal computer, and the legal provider says the product is region-locked, will come to your country 3 months after the U.S. release, and can only be purchased at a brick and mortar store, then the pirate's service is more valuable. Most DRM solutions diminish the value of the product by either directly restricting a customers use or by creating uncertainty." -Gaben

Have you looked to see if it's available through Amazon instead? Amazon doesn't region-lock their files (in fact, they can't, since they're just straight MP3s.)

I know this feel. Some of the albums I want to buy via amazon or iturds is only available in another country.

I could, but I prefer to get all my music legally.

So very true.

The song itself will remain a secret for now, as I don't want to give anything away that could could help readers deduce what happens before the last chapter is posted.

:twilightoops:
Whoops! Sorry about that!

3613491
I could, but it seems like too much effort to get just one song. I'm going to try iTune's "request a song" feature and see if that helps. It's actually worked before on other music I've wanted, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

So very, very true. Every company should have to read that paragraph.

3614257
I checked, but it's only available on an import CD that's not exactly cheap. I'll probably just save up and buy it at this point.

"You want to buy our music?! Ahahahahahahahaha no."

Amazon and band camp are the best aggregators anyways.
