Why do I write? Because I can't draw! I write mainly as an outlet, and don't take it too seriously. If you like what I write, awesome! If not, that's cool too.

We can rebuild her. Better than she was before. Stronger. Faster. We have the technology... · 4:35am Nov 29th, 2015

Rainbow Dash is: the fullmetal pegasus.

What a finale, huh? So much worldbuilding, even if they were just alternate timelines. Also, dem exploitable faces!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled hiatus.

What were you guys' thoughts on the last ep of the season?

Honestly? I'm still formulating my thoughts. There's a lot going for this episode and a fair amount going against it. It's going to be a divisive one.

3576785 I thought it was good overall, the only thing I didn't really buy was SG's backstory and reason for the whole thing in the first place. Like, Okay, losing a friend sucks, and you might not feel like putting forth the effort to make a new one right away. Going from there to making a town where everyone is the same is a bit of a stretch, but not nearly as huge a leap as having the town liberated then trying to ruin the whole planet just to get revenge on the pony you think is responsible for taking away the monument to your own insanity.

Also, for a brief, shining moment, I thought Twilight was going to bring NMM back through the portal to fight SG, and figure the rest out from there. Oh my god that would have been glorious.

It's equivalent exchange. Rainbow lost a wing and Sombra lost a third of his army in one swoop.

Much cuteness, much fun, and lots of enjoyable sillyness. Good finale.

Weak WEAK ending. I'm ignoring the time travel shenanigans because it's been pointed out that, while it could have been done BETTER, it probably wouldn't be done correctly since even major movies with time travel can't seem to get stuff like that right(though reeally I think the last one with a barren wasteland would have been the realistic result of all those villains popping up one after the other. They probably would have wiped each other, and everything else, out.). Sunset Starlight is so obsessed with her revenge that even having a completely destroyed Equestria doesn't do anything to get her to stop, but her not interrupting Twilight's friendship speech this time does? Yeah...

As I've alluded to in the past, I don't like quick villain redemptions. Discords was great because the real redemption didn't actually happen until the end of season 4. Sunset's redemption, while also too easy, at least had the excuse of her getting Friendship Canon'd. This is ESPECIALLY my issue with Diamond Tiara's redemption. Though on a smaller scale (school bully instead of world threat), DT has been the show's longest running villain, being an unrepentant b-*:yay:* to the crusaders since season 1. Suddenly giving her mommy issues does not justify her getting a turn around so quickly.

Her backstory also falls flat with me, as it renders everything she's done extremely petty. Her wrecking the timeline over her defeat at the beginning of the season was bad enough, but when your villain is essentially throwing a cosmic temper tantrum over something that happened to her as a child, then your writing is probably on shaky ground. Also...given that Starlight was able to do stuff with time magic that Starswirl the bearded couldn't, using an artifact whose properties are largely unknown, AND outfight an alicorn(WTF!?)...how the HECK did she not end up going to magic school too, thus reconnecting with her friend? Also, I would like to nominate her parents for possibly the worst parents in Equestria, since they evidently let her grow up with such an attitude towards friendship and cutie marks(I bet her own cutie mark story is a doozy) without trying to help her.

Also, if we count each timeline as a separate time, she willingly, if (somehow) unknowingly, wrecked Equestria SEVEN TIMES! And her punishment is...essentially nothing!? And that's not even counting the imprisoning and ensorcering(cutie mark theft) of the mane 6 and who knows how many others from 'Our Town'. I know the show is big on villain redemption, but there's got to be some sort of line! Sunset at least faced SOME consequences for her actions! Luna spent 1000 years in lunar time out between her attacks! Starlight gets...friendship lessons. I guess you only get punished for your crimes if you're not a pony (Tirek, Chrysalis) or male (Sombra...and Flim and Flam if they hadn't skipped town).

3577007 Although I knew it wouldn't happen, I was waiting for Twilight to just say "alright, I tried friendship, lets try the Tirek method" and just blast her in the face with all the magic she had. I agree, SG's backstory and instant redemption deflated an otherwise great finale.

True, but Diamond Tiara's "backstory" was so bad it makes every other villian's look good.

I'm looking at that picture and keep saying to myself.
"This actually happened. This actually happened. This actually happened. ..."

Someone needs to get Scoots two of those prosthetic wings. Any lame ponies need the augmentations the Pies had on their forelegs. Problem solved.

The biggest "hey, wait a minute..." for me (aside from the terrible ending) was that Celestia was completely unable to deal with any of the show's villains whatsoever. No help with NMM or Discord: she gets stomped. OK, I can buy that. No help with Sombra: even with all of Equestria in a wartime economy, Sombra has already taken half of the country. Shiny, Cadance and Luna are all MIA. Maybe Sombra got a first strike in or something, but that's one heck of a supposed power differential there. One unicorn and a few ponies from the frozen wastes against the Alicorn of the Sun and all of Equestria? Really?

No help with Queen Chrysalis: all of Equestria is doomed again. I guess Chryssi really did defeat Celestia at the wedding, and all the "it was a trick" theories are no good. Tirek? Well, yeah. They had to pull out their deus ex machina of the season for him, fair enough. But Flim and Flam? Really?! Three years later, they're turning all of Ponyville into a huge factory, and Celestia hasn't even sent out the zoning board or the health inspector? Come on, now. Is she really that useless?

I have no idea what happened to give us the Fallout: Equestria future at the end there. Maybe Starlight Glimmer's cult took all of Equestria and some moron tried to control the sun for the day.

Note that, in all of the above futures, Celestia had no functional Plan B. Even with Sombra, it boiled down to "wreck the entire country and fight Sombra's soldiers personally, and still lose eventually." Even if she somehow wins, Equestria won't be much better off than it would have been under Sombra.

I'd say that she's an OK peacetime ruler, but the Flim-Flam Future put paid to that. She's an overgrown mother-figure who never learned how to discipline anyone. Sure, she'll cry and wonder "where did I go wrong?" when they act up, but she won't do anything about it. If a time-out, the occasional lecture, and unconditional forgiveness fails, she's got nothing.

War... War never changes.

Fallout is canon everyone go home it's over we won

Ending was a disappointment, maybe if ALL her friends had left because thya had CM's it'd be acceptable

3577654 if I had to guess, I'd say the wasteland future was a result of all those villains the mane 6 never stopped duking it out and wrecking the planet in the process.

3577673, NMM, 10/10 immortal ruler, would swear loyalty to.

Gotta watch the rest of it first...
